Leidos is seeking an experienced Principal Solutions Architect to join our Defense Enclave Services (DES) team, who will support an extensive digital modernization program critical to Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) and Department of Defense (DoD) Fourth Estate Agencies. The System Architect will work closely with the Leidos and Government technical leadership team to help drive innovation, growth, and efficiencies within the DES portfolio.
Primary Responsibilities
- Support the DES Chief Engineer in identifying service gaps and areas for improvement and driving continual innovation to evolve DoDNet to meet current and future requirements
- Identify and explore opportunities for improving the following areas within DES, then leading the analysis of alternatives and proof of concept development that leads to the establishment of dedicated projects to implement the targeted and approved improvements:
- Improving the performance of site surveys and migrations such that they are standardized, repeatable, automated, flexible, and efficient
- Improving the use of automation to minimize staffing requirements, reduce the risk of human error, and enable staff to focus on more complex activities
- Establishing open design principles to provide solutions that operate in a compatible, non-vendor lock-in environment with minimal custom configuration
- Incorporate emerging technologies that enhance cybersecurity, drive down total cost, and enhance the end-user experience
- Work closely with project teams to ensure that the execution, aimed at implementing the targeted and approved improvements, remains aligned to the vision and intent of the improvements
- Collaborate with Leidos Team and Government stakeholders to identify potential areas for improvement
- Conduct an initial feasibility assessment of candidate initiatives, followed by a more detailed analysis of alternatives
- Document and present the results of the analysis to Leidos and Government stakeholders through the engineering review boards
- Oversee the development of proofs of concept, which are narrowly scoped projects (3 months or less) to provide demonstrable and measurable insights into the utility of the candidate improvement(s)
- Draft a detailed project plan outlining the technical approach as well as the cost, schedule, and risks to thoroughly implement the improvement.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Engineering Management, Management Information Systems, or related STEM degree program, and 12-15 years of relevant experience.
- Ability to obtain and maintain DoD Secret clearance
- Experience designing solutions for secure, scalable, and robust on premise and cloud-based virtualized infrastructures.
- Experience planning and executing the migration of applications and services.
- Experience developing and maintaining architecture artifacts, and effectively communicating the design to executive and technical stakeholders
- Experience evaluating and recommending new technologies, tools, and frameworks to improve performance, scalability, security, and costs
- Experience operating in a DevSecOps environment of comparable size and complexity
- Proven written and oral communications skills targeted at all levels of an organization
- Must possess an active DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification OR ability to obtain certification (such as CompTIA Sec+ ce) within 60 days of starting position with Leidos
Preferred Qualifications
- Possess an active DoD Secret clearance
- Experience designing, deploying, and maintaining IT infrastructures for DISA or other DoD organizations

Pay Range:
Pay Range $122,200.00 - $220,900.00
