Summary
As an Azure Cloud Systems Engineer at Hummingbird, you will design, implement, and manage cloud-based infrastructure solutions within the Microsoft Azure and Microsoft 365 environments. Collaborating closely with IT leadership, security, data teams, and operations teams, you will support mission-critical systems, ensure regulatory compliance, and optimize cloud resources for performance and cost-efficiency. This role requires a proactive approach to problem-solving, automation, and continuous improvement.

- Compensation:Starting at $122,000+ per year less statutory deductions
- Work Location:This position is remote. You must work from a location within the United States with consistent internet service.

Azure Architecture & Implementation
Design and implement Azure and M365-based cloud infrastructure and applications to support business and client services, ensuring high availability, scalability, and performance.
Apply security best practices, including identity management, access controls, encryption, and network security, to safeguard cloud systems.
Monitor and respond to security threats and vulnerabilities, ensuring systems are protected against potential breaches.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate cloud solutions with existing systems and workflows.
Document and communicate infrastructure designs, changes, and improvements to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Automation & Optimization
Automate infrastructure and IT processes using tools such as Azure Resource Manager (ARM), Terraform, PowerShell scripts, or Azure DevOps to enhance efficiency and reduce manual tasks.
Continuously optimize cloud resources to achieve cost savings while maintaining performance and availability.
Evaluate and implement automation solutions to streamline cloud management and operational workflows.
Monitor cloud resource usage and performance to make data-driven recommendations for optimization.
Conduct regular reviews and updates to automation processes to adapt to evolving business needs.
Network Performance & Security
Monitor and analyze cloud network performance to ensure it meets on-demand requests and supports business operations.
Establish and manage secure connections between cloud and/or client networks, implementing firewall rules and security groups to protect infrastructure.
Collaborate with IT and client teams to ensure network configurations align with organizational security policies and best practices.
Cybersecurity & Risk Management
Work with security and data teams to integrate cloud infrastructure with application and data workflows, ensuring alignment with security policies.
Provide technical expertise and support for cloud projects, including risk assessment and mitigation strategies.
Communicate effectively with stakeholders to address security concerns and provide guidance on best practices.
Develop and implement strategies to manage and mitigate risks associated with cloud deployments.
Stay current with emerging cybersecurity threats and trends, applying knowledge to improve cloud security posture.
Scalability, Robustness & Compliance
Design infrastructure solutions that support scalability and robustness in line with organizational priorities and cost-effectiveness.
Implement and maintain security measures to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and protect data from unauthorized access.
Monitor system logs and performance metrics to ensure service availability and operational efficiency.
Conduct regular compliance audits and reviews to ensure adherence to industry standards and internal policies.
Provide insights and recommendations to enhance the scalability and resilience of cloud infrastructure.
Provide Tier 3 support for escalated technical issues, troubleshooting complex cloud-related incidents.
Required & Desired Skills
Required Skills and Experience
5+ years of experience in cloud systems engineering, with deep expertise in Microsoft Azure and M365 environments.
Proven experience in designing and managing cloud infrastructure, including automation and optimization of resources.
Strong knowledge of security practices, including identity management, access controls, and network security.
Demonstrated ability to handle complex technical challenges with minimal supervision and wide latitude for independent judgment.
Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams and communicating technical concepts to diverse stakeholders.
Desired Skills and Experience
Azure certifications (e.g., Azure Administrator, Azure Solutions Architect)
Proficiency in scripting languages such as PowerShell or Python.
Experience with infrastructure as code tools such as Terraform and Azure DevOps.
Familiarity with advanced cloud security solutions and compliance requirements.
Knowledge of large-scale cloud deployments and performance optimization strategies.
Strong problem-solving skills and ability to drive continuous improvement in cloud infrastructure.
Experience providing advanced technical support and managing escalated issues in a cloud environment.
