The ideal candidate will have in depth experience in building, implementing, managing, and maintaining multiple client networks. The selected candidate will serve as a generalist and will need to be able to balance supporting multiple task lanes.
Functional Duties:
The Network Engineer responsibilities include:
• Design and engineer enterprise data, VPNs, and Mobility solutions in compliance with NSA's CSfC guidance.
• Implement secure solutions using diverse COTS products from different vendors.
• Design and operate complex network infrastructure, including LAN/WAN hardware, routers, switches, firewalls, mobility controllers, and encryption devices.
• Provide high-level support and technical expertise in networking technology.
• Collaborate with vendors, government entities, carriers, and technical staff on network implementation, optimization, and ongoing management.
• Design and document network infrastructure, including support playbooks.
• Recommend and implement new solutions to enhance network resiliency.
• Coordinate with other teams and vendors to resolve network issues.
• Demonstrate a quick learning ability and adaptability.
• Utilize strong troubleshooting, analytical problem-solving, and organizational skills.
• Thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic, and collaborative environment.
Qualifications:
Required:
• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field; or equivalent years of relevant experience.
• Ability to create technical, instructional, or overview documentation for equipment, circuit layouts, and networks.
• Experience in IP network design, testing, and implementation.
• Proficiency with network security appliances such as:
o Cisco ASA firewall
o Cisco Firepower Threat Defense
o Juniper SRX
o Palo Alto Firewall
• Familiarity with routing platforms from Cisco and Juniper, as well as routing protocols like BGP, MPLS, and Segment Routing.
• Experience with network monitoring, troubleshooting, and packet capture tools like SolarWinds and Wireshark.
• Detail-oriented and organized, with the ability to assess network evaluation criteria accurately.
• Effective communication with staff from other sections to resolve complex network/encryption problems.
• Solid understanding of components such as IPsec VPNs (including Next-Generation Encryption), One-Way Transfer Appliances, and Transport Layer Security.
