We are seeking an experienced AIX Administrator to provide vital support to federal systems that protect and defend our nation. In this role, you'll contribute your technical expertise to ensure seamless operation, maintenance, and improvement of AIX operating systems, working closely with a talented team dedicated to maintaining system security and availability.

Key Responsibilities:
- AIX Installation & Configuration:
- Install, configure, and maintain AIX operating systems and servers.
- Manage software application compatibility and support for AIX OS environments.
- System Upgrades & Maintenance:
- Plan, install, test, and implement AIX system upgrades, patches, and hardware maintenance.
- Develop and maintain technical artifacts, including user and operator manuals.
- Create SOPs to manage AIX security, operations, and performance improvements.
- Performance Optimization & Troubleshooting:
- Analyze software and hardware environments to identify system defects and resolve issues.
- Implement performance enhancement initiatives to ensure system availability.
- Manage data backups and retrieval techniques to maintain redundancy.
- Disaster Recovery & Architecture:
- Collaborate with managers and architects to implement disaster recovery procedures.
- Assess system architecture and provide recommendations for improvement.
- Offer operational metrics to support continuous improvement and maintain service-level agreements (SLAs).
- Customer & End-User Engagement:
- Collect feedback from customers and end-users to align AIX system requirements with operational needs.
Minimum Requirements:

Clearance: Active Secret Clearance (per contract requirements).

Citizenship: U.S. citizenship with no dual citizenship (per agency requirements).

Availability: Ability to work in a 24/7/365 environment, with readiness for recall and participation in a rotational on-call schedule.

Location: Must be based near Annapolis Junction, MD, with availability for on-site work, especially during the transition period.
- Experience:
- At least 7 years of experience in architecting, configuring, patching, and upgrading Middleware Enterprise platforms.
- At least 3 years of experience administering IIS, .NET, WebSphere, Node.js, Apache Tomcat, cloud-native instances, Active MQ, and IBM MQ Series.

Certification: IBM Certified System Administrator – AIX is required.
Desired Skills:

Technical Expertise: Strong knowledge of infrastructure engineering, including installation, configuration, performance tuning, and troubleshooting.

Automation: Experience using PowerShell, Bash, Perl, or Python to automate tasks.

System Knowledge: Familiarity with a wide range of systems, including:
- IBM Power Systems (e.g., IBM Power 8, E880C), RedHat Satellite, Dell/Oracle Intel-based servers
- AIX 7.1, RHEL 6.x/7.x, IBM TSM, IBM WebSphere Application Server, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP
- Load balancing (e.g., F5, Kemp), firewalls (e.g., Juniper, Cisco ASA), and various backup solutions.
