Job Description:
In this role, you will implement, support, and maintain the City's network infrastructure.
Examples of Duties:
- Supports the Network Infrastructure Manager in the design, specifications, configuration, installation, and maintenance of local and wide area network hardware, software, and related communications services and systems such as network system software, network software applications, routers, bridges, switches, firewalls, access and security control systems, and network cabling.
- Assists in the development of policies and procedures related to network hardware and software acquisition, use, support, security, and backup.
- Responds to the needs and questions of network users concerning their access to resources on the network and the operation of various Network software programs.
- Communicates with other departments to report and resolve Network software, hardware, and operations problems.
- Researches and evaluates new Network technologies.
- Installs and tests Network software upgrades.
- Collects and analyzes Network utilization statistics for Network performance analysis.
- Assists in the development of Network disaster recovery procedures.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree (BA/BS) or equivalent in Computer Science or related field; and 2 years of related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Reasonable knowledge of Database software; Design software; Development software; and Internet software.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Windows, Outlook, Access, Project, Excel and Word or similar software.
- Ability to type a minimum of 35 words per minute by touch.
Preferred Qualifications:
- CISCO Certified Network Associate desired.
Other Necessary Requirements:
- May require evenings, weekends, and holidays as scheduled.
- In the event of major storms or other emergency situations, this position may be subject to 24-hour shifts or any other emergency schedule that is necessary to meet the City’s needs.
