Nighthawk Cyber is seeking highly motivated candidates to join a team to help design, orchestrate, automate, document, standardize, deploy, and manage a modern software platform infrastructure that operates in a hybrid (public/private) cloud environment. This position is in support of a large program that utilizes a modern tech stack and Agile execution processes to deliver industry leading applications and services for a critical DoD mission.
Job Summary:
The candidate will:
- Support the full stack development and deployment of platform services that enable DevSecOps, CI/CD, and highly scalable application infrastructure
- Support the design, installation, and operation of a broad array of platform services for development, operations and execution
- Utilize Infrastructure as Code tools to automate the deployment of the overarching system and support DevSecOps functions for application software
- Work as part of a fast moving highly diverse team across multiple projects simultaneously
Core Job Functions:
- Ability to work within a team to design, implement, deploy, and sustain complex platform infrastructure in a hybrid private/public cloud environment. Private cloud is based on VMware infrastructure, and public cloud includes a variety of hyperscalers
- Must be skilled with Kubernetes application configuration, deployments, networking, storage, and infrastructure
- Must be able to author and maintain scripts in a variety of languages, and utilize Infrastructure as Code tools and concepts to the greatest extent practical
- Must be skilled with Linux system administration
- Must have a functional knowledge of identity management and SSO architectures and tools
- Must have a functional knowledge of modern PKI infrastructures and solutions
- Must assure system stability, accessibility, and proper configuration of assigned technical systems and components
- Provides professional-level IT, virtual environment, and network support functions, and assists software developers, integration, and test engineers with DevOps functions
- Must be a self-starter in a fast-paced environment and able to work with/manage a range of engineers holding a diverse set of skills at differing levels of experience
- Be sensitive and flexible to the needs and requirements of the customer
Additional Job Functions:
- Apply software centric DevOps functions to a large-scale hybrid cloud environments.
- Analyze hardware and software functionality for proper operation and improvement.
- Identify, locate, resolve and repair problems within platform architecture
- Document and present performance records and results.
- Document problems/issues via IT ticketing system/tracking log.
- Review and update all information security management system process and procedures (data/software).
Required Skills:
- Knowledge of and ability to implement cloud vendor best practices.
- Our environment is primarily built with Linux, VMware, and Kubernetes
Experience with private and hybrid cloud design/operation/monitoring/deployment:
- VMware vCenter, VCF, VCD, NSX, and ESXi, generally maintained at the most current version.
- Knowledge of or ability to learn VMware Orchestrator to automate deployment and destruction of virtual machine, network, and other virtualized assets in VMware environments.
- Knowledge of or ability to learn Amazon Web Services.
- Knowledge of or ability to learn Google Cloud Platform, Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE) On Prem, Kubernetes, and Docker.
Use scripting languages for automation, administration, data collection and reporting. This job requires the ability to write, test, debug, deploy, and sustain scripts.
Ability to configuration manage, version control, and backup various scripts and work products created to execute and maintain the environment.
Review and update all lab process and procedures, policies, and supporting infrastructure.
Audit and reporting of system and performance logs.
Respond professionally, effectively, and efficiently to service requests.
Prioritize multiple tasks, projects, and demands.
Research and/or implement new technologies.
Effective interpersonal and communications skills.
- Professionally convey system-wide performance information routinely via tools such as PowerPoint, Excel, Visio, etc.
- Train others to perform similar design and administrative tasks.
- Interact with vendors/users/customers and developers to understand needs and operational requirements changes that will impact development and testing activities, examine any relevant change implementation, then report the changes to developers and testers welcoming feedback for future improvements.
Operating and maintaining computer and peripheral equipment safely and competently.
Solving technical problems involving a variety of integrated software and hardware platforms.
Excellent communications skills and the ability to work well in a team environment.
Required Education/Experience:
- Associate or bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline such as computer science or information technology from an accredited college or university
- Five years of work experience preferred
- Security+ and/or CISSP certifications are required or must be completed within four months of hire
