About the Role
The Mastercard Site Reliability Engineering team strives to ensure our customers have an experience that just works, every time by ensuring all aspects of our infrastructure and technology ecosystem are maintained to the highest standards and compliant with stringent security requirements.
In this role, a Principal Site Reliability Engineer for Database Technologies can expect to:
• Work with our customers to understand requirements and implement solutions to facilitate stability, scalability and visibility of highly available, mission critical database systems and applications.
• Liase with database architecture and standards owners to assess customer requirements against existing implementation patterns and assess compatible solutions against availability objectives.
• Work with capacity planning team and stakeholders to maintain detailed capacity and performance reporting and forecasts
• Formulate and drive action plans to prevent potential issues or mitigate active risks.
• Generate structured reports on health of the database ecosystem for an executive audience.
• As new technologies emerge and impact our environment, assess these technologies for the capabilities and implications to the ecosystem in order to proactively resolve any problems involved in their integration.
• Maintain business disaster recovery procedures for assigned areas of responsibility.
• Work with technical engineering teams to manage and improve processes, automating wherever possible.
All About You
• Subject matter expert level of understanding of Oracle Database 12c/19c/23c and replication products (Golden Gate, Dataguard)
• Strong understanding of NoSQL and PostgreSQL databases with hands on experience preferred.
• Experiencing assessing application and business requirements to inform infrastructure and/or deployment topology selection.
• Experience leading large cross-functional initiatives, often partnering with internal customers across technology verticals, expected to provide project direction and bring solutions to advanced technical challenges.
• Operational experience running highly available and mission critical platforms requiring 4x9s or better availability.
• Track record bringing automated solutions to bear on large scale environments with a wide range of technologies.
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously under pressure without direct supervision
• Ability to manage multiple activities and work with a strong sense of urgency
• Ability and motivation to learn new technologies quickly and with minimal support and guidance.
• Strong people skills and the ability to understand business needs and translate them into technical solutions
• Excellent verbal and written skills, organization, project prioritization, and time management skills.
• Experience working in a global organization is desirable with occassional flexibility in working hours needed to enable collaboration with teams in other geographies.

In line with Mastercard’s total compensation philosophy and assuming that the job will be performed in the US, the successful candidate will be offered a competitive base salary based on location, experience and other qualifications for the role and may be eligible for an annual bonus or commissions depending on the role. O'Fallon, Missouri: $138,000 - $230,000 USD
