The Network Administrator II is a full-time, 12-month position responsible to the Director, IT Operations. The Network Administrator II role is to install, maintain, and administer the college’s infrastructure and connections to various technologies, ensuring the availability of technology resources, meeting end-user needs, and providing technical information for high-level problem-solving related to infrastructure issues and connections to various technologies; providing management for subsets of major projects or small projects.
Essential Functions and Duties
The Network Administrator II performs mid-level network administration, managing network systems, and related software/hardware essential to the College’s network infrastructure and essential functions; collaborating and supporting interdepartmental curricular initiatives and systems; evaluating immediate and long-term technology issues and solutions; assisting in
the monitoring of network activity and equipment; documenting information and processes; resolving immediate network operational concerns
- Administer and configure a large, complex university network infrastructure; including switches, routers, wireless access points and the installation of additional servers, (on prem and virtual.)
- Responsible for daily administration of the college network environment, including wired and wireless environments.
- Installs, configures, and maintains system software. monitors network performance, troubleshoots issues and deploys solutions.
- Application of patches and installation of new applications and equipment.
- Implement and comply with standards, procedures, and processes for NOC.
- Administer firewalls and internal network security.
- Support validation, deployment, optimization, and operations of network nodes.
- Complies with production standards and policies
- Prepares written technical support documentation and/or conveys information providing exceptional customer service
- Research resources and methods to maintain current working knowledge of new and emerging technologies, federal rules, regulations, and policies
- Perform other duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills, & Experience:- Expert knowledge of network hardware, JUNIPER, CISCO and Palo Alto products
- Experience with VPN, cloud, and routing protocols.
- Experience with DCHP.
- Knowledge of NAC (Network Access Control) systems
- 1-3 years of hands-on experience in a comparable position preferred
- Knowledge of network technologies, including routing, switching, access control, and cloud infrastructure.
- Strong knowledge of firewall central management applications
- Exceptional analytical, conceptual, and problem-solving abilities
- Able to prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment
- Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
- Ability to install, configure, and troubleshoot various network issues with minimal supervision.
- Ability to draw up a network infrastructure with minimal supervision

- Experience in Higher Education preferred

Qualifications
Required Education:
Preferred Education:- Bachelor's Degree preferred in Management Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Network administrator certifications preferred (Juniper, Cisco, etc)

Span of Authority / Control:
- Decisions made independently by this position: Decisions regarding the day-to-day activities for network services.
- Decisions referred to the supervisor or other individual: Broad, strategic about the vision and direction of the College and the strategic direction of OTS will be referred to the OTS leadership team

Work Schedule:Special circumstances in the work schedule (e.g., travel, shift work, weekend or holiday work, on-call, other) Typical Monday through Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm work schedule, with an expectation for additional work hours when necessary and continuous monitoring of email and phone for network system outages
