Position Summary
The Project Engineer position provides project implementation services to our clients. As such, it requires the ability to work in multiple different environments on many different hardware and software platforms. It is important that all work be performed correctly, within acceptable time limits and when promised to customers. In this position, the incumbent works on his or her own with only general supervision. The incumbent typically works directly with client staff and management and at the client’s site and remotely.
Working hours other than the standard weekday hours will be required from time to time.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Helps create and follows written project implementation plans and regularly notifies customers and management on progress.
- Install, update and configures network, server/workstation software/hardware and conducts appropriate verifications.
- Provides technical support and training to clients.
- Provides timely verbal and written communications as required with clients, vendors and staff.
- Ensures a high level of customer satisfaction.
- Continues to improve technical and customer service skills through continuing education and certifications.
- Build relationships with the operations/technical staff of key customers.
- Ensures all documentation is properly maintained and updated in a timely manner.
- Other duties as assigned.
Typical Projects
- Exchange to Microsoft Office 365 migrations
- Office building moves (LAN room setup; connectivity procurement, etc.)
- Cisco / Sonicwall firewall setups, installs
- vLAN and LAN Switch installs and configurations
- Business class wireless network setups
- Windows Server installs, migrations, upgrades, etc.
- Computer OS upgrades
- Active Directory GPO configurations
- VM migrations, installs, upgrades
- Backup setups, migrations
- Cloud server setups, migrations
- New client onboardings
- VDI deployments
General Performance Expectations
- Minimum 4 years’ experience in a related position
- Excellent analytical and problem solving skills.
- Ability to provide quick resolution to problems.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Must be customer service oriented
- Dresses in a manner that professionally represents our company.
- Is punctual and meets commitments.
- Reliable transportation to get to client sites must be readily available.
Education and Experience
This position requires a bachelor’s degree from a 4-year college or university or equivalent and a minimum of 4 years of directly related work experience. Industry certifications are highly desireable.
Physical Demands
The incumbent must have normal dexterity and be able to easily move around at client sites and have normal hearing and vision including color. Lifting and moving equipment of up to 25 pounds is required as is the ability to access equipment racks, wiring closets and under floor computer room environments.
