Manager, Information Technology (Emphasis on VM Systems Management) - Orem, Utah
Job Summary: This is a management level position responsible for analyzing and directing all IT related activities of the organization with supervisory responsibilities for all staff assigned to the IT department. This position is accountable for ensuring continuity of computer services for computer users throughout the organization through planning, technical leadership, and project coordination.
Essential Functions:
•Supervise the company's information technology staff including programmers and help desk personnel
•Ensure smooth and secure operations of all technology functions and equipment, including company computer systems, Internet operations, mobile communications and more
•Designs, administers, builds, configures, and maintains a Multi-host Hyper converged VMware environment performing all activities from spinning up new VM's to upgrading Simplivity and VMware software and firmware.
•Stay abreast of changes in technology and recommend purchases of technology that will increase business efficiency, save money and facilitate achievement of company goals
•Recruit and train skilled technology employees and work with human resources staff on personnel issues
•Provide beneficial technology solutions for day-to-day operations, as well as facilitate accomplishment of strategic goals and objectives
•Communicate with other departments in the company about business needs
•Create, implement and enforce IT policies that support the efforts of other departments within the company
•Have authority for large-scale technology projects and assure their completion on time, according to budget and at the expected quality level
•Create and manage the company's technology budget
•Source systems and software, including identifying vendors, negotiating and purchasing
•Oversee the monitoring and maintenance of IT assets across the company, including oversight of inventory system, security protocols and protection against viruses and internal and external breaches
•Plan the lifespan of technologies, including anticipated upgrades and replacements
•Coordinate efforts with facilities management staff on maintenance and security of sites where technology is deployed
•Make technology and systems available around the clock; providing fast recovery when downtime is inevitable
•Establish disaster recovery or contingency plans to ensure business continuity
•Hire contractors and outsource functions when necessary to ensure the company's technology needs are met efficiently and effectively
•Performs other duties as may be assigned.
Management Responsibilities:
•Perform all supervisory responsibilities associated with the IT department including employee related issues.
•Enforce company policies and procedures as a member of management for all employees.
•Determine the goals of IT within broad outlines provided by the executive management and contribute to the continuity of computer services by providing necessary technical leadership and project coordination.
•Interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems; identifies individual goals and targets, reviews goals and targets on a quarterly basis; conducts recurring reviews and identifies opportunities for improvement of team members, and supports team by attending meetings
Education and Experience:
•Bachelor's degree in computer or technology-related field, or equivalent business experience
•Experience with Simplivity and VMWare ESX is critical.
•Outstanding knowledge of computer software, hardware, networking, computer security and technology risk management
•A qualified candidate would be well versed in Cyber Security and be able to research, analyze and address efforts to compromise security protocols. They would be able to define and implements security protocols to identify and prevent infiltration and create and administer security policies to manage and control access to systems.
•Must have good working knowledge of all aspects of the VMware environment as the candidate will be responsible for managing backups and determining resource allocation between the systems and many virtual machines and troubleshooting and resolving complex issues as they arise, and monitoring performance ensuring system availability and reliability. A successful candidate will be familiar with, and able to implement industry leading best practices in System Administration, Security, and management and be able to plan for future expansion.
•Familiarity with Darktrace, Global Protect, Palo Alto Firewalls, Brocade/Ruckus, Linux/Ubuntu, Adlumen, Duo, MS Windows Administration, Kace, Firewall Management, Wi-Fi and CISA recommendations are a plus.
