Systems Administrator

General Description:
Installs, configures and maintains organization's network and attached devices. Builds and administers the networks and all other peripheral devices relating to the network and telephone systems. Assist IT Manager with other duties/responsibilities as assigned.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
- Aids users in accessing and using systems.
- Assist in all tiers of IT from low level system configuration and troubleshooting to high level changes in infrastructure design and arrangement.
- Assists with risk assessments of existing IT environments and impacts of planned changes, as well as security risk assessments for new projects.
- Performs and documents system configuration changes.
- Loads, configures software and firmware, applies security patches and assess vulnerabilities.
- Maintain inventory accountability on hardware and software.
- Optimizes system operation and resource utilization and performs system capacity analysis and obsolescence planning.
- Collaborate with managers, co-workers, and customers to identify and troubleshoot problems and implement new IT capabilities.
- Authors system administrator procedures and conducts system administrator training.
Work Experience Requirements:
- Must be capable in a Microsoft Active Directory network.
- 2+ years working as a systems administrator, preferably on enterprise equipment
- Experience with physical and virtual networking products (routing, switching, and/or firewalls)
- Experience with Microsoft 365 and Azure.
Educational Requirements (or equivalent):
- Must have relevant IT training, degree, certification, experience, etc.
Working Conditions:
- Office Environment, not lifting more than 50 lbs.
Essential Skills/Experience:
- Willing to wear many hats – Network Administrator, Helpdesk, Support Technician, etc.
- Ability to work in a collaborative environment
Beneficial Skills/Experience:
- May be required to obtain a DOD security clearance
- Detailed knowledge of command line and graphical user interfaces using security products such as Public Key Infrastructure (PKI), VPNs, virtual LANs (VLAN), firewalls, network-based and host-based intrusion detection and prevention systems, and data encryption.
- Familiarity with Risk Management Frameworks such as NIST 800-53
