As a Senior Manager of Infrastructure Engineering at JPMorgan Chase within the Cybersecurity and Technology Controls organization, you provide overall direction for team members and work on established and moderately complex issues within your specialization. Exercise independent judgement within defined parameters to determine appropriate actions to bring these issues to a resolution.
Job responsibilities
- Lead a team of 8-10 direct reports for multiple technical teams and collaborates with others within the function.
- Anticipate the needs and potential dependencies of the broader team.
- Identifies and takes action to mitigate and escalate issues to appropriate leadership.
- Manages stakeholders and ensures teams deliver the aligned projects in line with the compliance standards, risk and security, service level agreements, and business requirements.
- Applies relevant technical expertise, leadership, and business knowledge to projects of moderate to large scope.
- Contributes to decisions that influence staffing, budget, and relevant profit, and loss.
- Mentors & advises junior engineers and technologists.
- Adds to the team’s culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, respect for team members and prioritizes diverse representation.
- Participate in 24x7x365 support coverage as needed.
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills.
- Formal training or certification on security engineering concepts and 5+ years applied experience. In addition, 2 + years of experience leading technologists to manage and solve complex technical items within your domain of expertise
- Deep knowledge of one or more areas of infrastructure engineering such asL Infrastructure as Code (IaC), Networking, Databases/Storage, Deployment practices, integration, automation & scaling, Resilience, and/or Performance assessments
- Advanced in one or more scripting languages (e.g., Terraform, Python, JavaScript, Shell etc.)
- Solid experience and understanding of monitoring and use of analysis tools such as Splunk, Grafana, Dynatrace, AppDynamics etc.
- Drives to develop technical and cross-functional knowledge outside of the product.
- Deep knowledge of cloud infrastructure and multiple cloud technologies with the ability to operate in and migrate across public and private cloud.
- Experience managing multicultural infrastructure engineering teams.
- Ability to guide and coach teams on approach to achieve goals aligned against set strategic initiatives.
- Experience hiring, developing, and recognizing talent.
- Knowledge of infrastructure engineering technologies and programming languages (e.g., Scripting, Python, etc.)
- Exposure to managing budgets.
Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Previous experience managing large teams.
- Configuration Management / Automation (Puppet, Ansible, Salt, RunDeck, CFEngine)
- Familiarity with Java ecosystem (Maven, Nexus, Gradle)
- Experience with Splunk in one of the following areas: IT Operations, compliance, network security, and system security, supporting security event management tools (SIEMs).
- Solid experience guiding teams using Agile frameworks (Scrum, Kanban, etc.)
