Job Title – Sr Director IT
Department – Information Technology
Reports to – Chief Financial Officer

Job Summary
The Sr Director IT is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing the strategic direction and operational management of the IT department. This role involves managing a team of IT professionals, driving the execution of technology initiatives, and ensuring alignment with the company’s overall business objectives. The Senior Director of IT plays a critical role in shaping the organization’s IT infrastructure, enhancing cybersecurity measures, and supporting digital transformation efforts.
Key areas of responsibility
- Collaborate with the senior leadership team to develop an IT strategy that will support the strategic business initiatives and regularly report on IT performance to the senior leadership team, highlighting successes, challenges, risks and areas for improvement.
- Lead and oversee the implementation of the plan that will transform the IT group, leveraging best practices around business process and technology changes.
- Build productive working relationships throughout the company, including with the senior leadership team and board of directors.
- Lead global IT operations and compliance by overseeing and managing global IT operations, ensuring seamless integration and support for international business units while maintaining compliance with diverse international regulations, data protection, and cybersecurity standards.
- Develop and optimize global IT Infrastructure by building and/or maintaining a robust global IT infrastructure, standardizing processes, managing multi-regional data, and driving cross-border IT support to align with the company’s global strategy.
- Promote and integrate AI technologies to enhance internal process efficiencies while also developing and supporting AI-driven solutions to generate new revenue streams.
- Effectively manage the department budget of around $5 million, including all internal resources and external vendor relationships.
- Engage internal and/or third-party resources to build a scalable infrastructure and application development capability plan and support operationally day-to-day.
- Vendor and Contract Management:
- Lead the negotiation, selection, and management of key technology vendors and service providers, ensuring the delivery of high-quality services and solutions.
- Establish and monitor service level agreements (SLAs) to ensure vendors meet the company’s performance and cost expectations.
- Lead the transformation to modernize and optimize legacy systems to align with business growth, strategically assess and implement system conversions, and oversee the development and deployment of new applications to drive business objectives.
- Invest in the continuous development of the IT team, ensuring they have the skills and knowledge to support the organization’s goals, especially in areas related to cybersecurity and IP protection.
- Encourage innovation, implementation of cutting-edge technologies, inclusion, outside-of-the-box thinking, teamwork, self-organization, and diversity.
- Data Governance and Management:
- Develop and implement a data governance framework to ensure data integrity, security, and accessibility across the organization.
- Oversee the management of the company’s data assets, including data warehousing, analytics, and reporting capabilities.
- IT Risk Management and Compliance:
- Develop and maintain an IT risk management framework to identify, assess, and mitigate risks associated with technology and data.
- Ensure compliance with industry regulations and standards, including GDPR, HIPAA, PIPEDA and other relevant data protection laws.
- IT Innovation:
- Drive efforts to explore new IT technologies, tools, and methodologies that can provide a competitive advantage.
- Lead pilot programs and proof-of-concept initiatives to test and validate emerging IT technologies before full-scale implementation.
- Support and uphold HS&E policies and procedures of NCS and the customer.
- Align individual goals with NCS corporate goals, while adhering to the NCS Promise.
- Conduct, participate in and promote Personal Development for Success (PDS), for both self and direct reports, ensuring effectiveness of program.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Advanced university degree in Information Systems, Business Administration or related field preferred.
- Undergraduate degree required.
- 15+ years’ experience in an IT leadership role with a national or large regional company, that manufactures and sells its products and services into the oil and gas industry is a plus.
- Proven track record in custom applications development, project management, IT architecture, or senior IT roles in multi-billion-dollar companies.
- Extensive experience in developing and managing strategic IT initiatives that positively impact business users and leadership.
- Experience with publicly owned companies and knowledge of SOX compliance.
- Proven ability to attract, retain, and develop IT talent and foster career development.
- Experience in upgrading legacy platforms and introducing new technologies.
- Experienced in implementing process and technology changes using best practices, while ensuring the pace and scope align with organizational capacity.
- Strategic thinker with a hands-on approach and ability to delegate effectively.
- Strong business acumen with excellent analytical and conceptual skills.
- Experience or exposure to other business areas outside IT is a plus.
- Energetic, enthusiastic, results-oriented leader with a track record of adding value to management teams.
