Job Summary:
The Linux IT Engineer will be responsible for designing, implementing, and managing various platform and operating system environments, including VMware, Kubernetes, Linux, and Windows Server/Client. The role focuses on ensuring a secure, reliable, and scalable infrastructure, enabling global teams to work efficiently on the next generation of space systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Empower Engineering Teams: Utilize the latest platform technologies to streamline the design, manufacturing, and management of complex systems.
- Technical Expertise: Provide subject matter expertise in IT systems management, optimizing platform infrastructure for performance and security.
- Platform Management: Lead the design, upgrades, and maintenance of infrastructure projects across VMware, Kubernetes, Linux, and Windows environments.
- Project Leadership: Manage the planning and deployment of infrastructure projects to meet operational goals, with a focus on automation and continuous improvement.
- Configuration Management: Establish and enforce configuration management standards using automation tools like Ansible to:
- Ensure compliance with company and cybersecurity policies.
- Improve system reliability and high availability.
- Standardize and simplify environment management.
- Automate builds, deployments, and maintenance processes.
- Maintain full documentation and comprehensive system baselines.
- Performance Monitoring: Develop reporting for system usage, uptime, support levels, and cost control.
- Documentation: Create and maintain detailed documentation for all platform environments, ensuring transparency and operational efficiency.
Required Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience in IT, with a bachelor’s degree or equivalent (or 9+ years of total work experience).
- 3+ years in a platform-focused technology role with in-depth expertise in one or more of the following: Kubernetes, VMware, Linux Configuration Management, Automation, or Infrastructure as Code.
- Proven experience with Ansible for automation and configuration management.
- Strong knowledge of Linux systems administration and platform infrastructure.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with scripting, automation, or Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
- Familiarity with security frameworks and technologies, such as ISO 27001, NIST 800-171, IPSEC, SSL VPNs, and firewalls.
- Network (LAN/WAN) and security product support experience.
- Advanced problem-solving and analytical skills with the ability to see the big picture and make data-driven decisions.
- Experience with containerization technologies like Docker and Kubernetes (K8s).
