Global IT Facilities is responsible for overseeing the infrastructure for all of Ford’s computing facilities, including Enterprise Data Centers, Co-Location facilities, network hubs, manufacturing computer rooms, and office sites. The department is responsible for the planning, engineering and monitoring of all supporting mechanical and electrical infrastructure across the Ford global campus. In short, IT Facilities is the foundation that supports all other IT functions.
In this position…
As a Data Center Infrastructure and Software Engineer, you will work as part of a Global team, reviewing existing infrastructure and providing recommendations for enhancements, and or participating on the designing of new facilities.
In addition, you will be responsible for executing the Data Center Infrastructure Management (DCIM) strategy, enhancing workflow, integrating it, and maintaining the DCIM tools that are utilized for data center space, power and connectivity planning as well as monitoring various activities. Work closely with Global Data Center teams, and asset management teams to ensure the DCIM tool(s) accurately reflects the installed data center equipment and will work with the site facilities teams to verify the accuracy of the underlying power/cooling infrastructure, and continuously maintain an up-to-date inventory of equipment, peripherals and connectivity (power and data).
ResponsibilitiesWhat you’ll do…
- Assess Electrical and Mechanical infrastructure in Manufacturing data centers.
- Design electrical and mechanical infrastructure solutions.
- Generate recommendation based on site assessments.
- Drive & implement projects to increase current facility capacity, efficiency, sustainability & reliability.
- Work with other teams (Networking, Logistics, Safety, Security, Business leaders) and operating partners to coordinate projects, manage capacity, and optimize plant safety, performance, reliability, sustainability and efficiency.
- Establish performance benchmarks, conduct analysis, and prepare reports on all aspects of the data center facility infrastructure operations and maintenance.
- Technology Research – understanding industry trends and failure modes to mitigate risk to Ford facilities.
- Generate change management requests & incident management tickets for DC activities.
- Prepare and maintain DCIM systems support documentation, test plans, and change management records.
- Establish documentation relevant to technical support of business & facility operations.
- Manage minor and major planned and unplanned site works for critical infrastructure, with a solid understanding of the works involved, risks, mitigation and seeking approvals within relevant SLA’s as required.
- Work with Global Data Center teams and asset management teams to ensure the DCIM tool(s) accurately reflects the installed data center equipment and will work with the site facilities teams to verify the accuracy of the underlying power/cooling infrastructure
- Administration of the DCIM product/suite which may include license management, reporting via SQL, access management, supporting version upgrades which will require collaboration across internal application support teams and other IT teams.
- Working knowledge of and experience with a BMS (Tridium, Kodelabs), DCIM (Siemens, Scheneider) and building EPMS systems.
- Travel flexibility, as required
- Experience with critical monitoring and control systems and support for critical facilities.
QualificationsYou’ll have…
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Engineering Technology, or other related Engineering degree or equivalent years of professional experience.
- 3+ years of Experience installing, configuring and administrating Linux and Windows servers
- 3+ years of experience writing code, scripting and doing automation: Python, JavaScript, Node.js, JSP, C#, Perl, C++, std lib and Git, BASH, C++
- 3+ years of Server Hardware and network hands-on experiences required
- 3+ years of experience with building management systems (BMS and EPMS control systems) and data collection/trending
- 3+ years of Project Management experience.
- 1+ year of experience of the following areas:
- Installing, configuring, ordering, procuring software and hardware in the datacenter spaces will be an asset as well.
- Operating electrical or mechanical systems used in a data center environment, including but not limited to DRUPS, Transformers, Generators, Switchgear, UPS systems, ATS/STS units, PDUs, Chillers, AHUs and CRAC units.
- Ability to read technical documentation, diagrams & understanding spec sheets.
- Experience with ServiceNow as a Service Management systems (Problem and Change).
Even better, you may have…
- 1+ year Network knowledge (CCNA/CCENT, Network+)
- Experience in management of vendors/contractors performing construction, maintenance and upgrading works in large-scale critical environment.
- Manufacturing experience / understanding.
- Familiarity with AutoCAD.
