Overview:
We are seeking a talented Software Engineer (SWE) at Skill Level 1 to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will develop, maintain, and enhance complex software systems, including processing-intensive analytics, novel algorithm development, and real-time systems. This role requires strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work both individually and as part of a team. The Software Engineer will also review and test software components to ensure adherence to design requirements and resolve software problem reports.
Key Responsibilities:
- Analyze user requirements to derive software design and performance requirements.
- Design and code new software or modify existing software to add features.
- Debug existing software and correct defects to improve functionality.
- Integrate existing software into new or modified systems or operating environments.
- Develop simple data queries for existing or proposed databases or data repositories.
- Provide recommendations for improving documentation and software development processes.
- Develop and implement algorithms to enhance system performance and meet functional standards.
- Assist in developing and executing test procedures for software components.
- Write or review software and system documentation to ensure clarity and accuracy.
- Collaborate with users or system engineers to analyze system flow, data usage, and work processes.
- Lead a team at an appropriate level for the software development process being utilized.
- Modify existing software to correct errors or adapt to new hardware requirements.
- Design and implement complex database or data repository interfaces/queries.
- Utilize scientific analysis and mathematical models to predict outcomes and measure the consequences of design.
Qualifications:
- Experience: Seven (7) years of experience as a Software Engineer in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity.
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related discipline from an accredited college or university. Four (4) years of additional SWE experience may be substituted for a bachelor's degree.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in software development methodologies, debugging tools, and database management.
