The position:
Gentex is seeking an Embedded Software Engineer III to join our team based in Zeeland, Michigan near the beautiful shores of Lake Michigan.
We are seeking candidates that have demonstrated a work ethic, level of self-direction, and track record of success that stand out. As a member of this multi-disciplinary team you will be working closely with other engineers from the Requirements, Software Development, Software Test and Software Project teams to develop Gentex products.
As an Embedded Software Engineer III, you will gain experience working with the latest embedded software tools, technologies, and processes. You will develop embedded software for Gentex products including automotive vision systems, aerospace electrochromic dimming, fire protection, and new technologies. You will join a team of engineers that value learning, mentoring, and collaboration. You will develop the skills to identify and triage issues to help reach resolution. You will learn, understand, and effectively execute the software development process steps as part of a project team.

Purpose of the position:
Position Demands:
B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related discipline. Technical experience in software development.
Detailed, ongoing, current knowledge of electronics components and systems.
High proficiency in the C programming language, assembly languages, and real time operating systems. In-depth knowledge of embedded systems.
Broad technical skills and exemplary technical dependability in all product phases.
Primary responsibilities:
Execution of full development lifecycle including: Requirements Analysis, Software Architecture, Software Build Environment, Software Design, Algorithm Design, Unit Test Development, Embedded Software Development, Integration Test Development, Software Releases, Software Verification and Validation.
Coordinate with Software Project Engineering to meet development milestones and deadlines.
Reviewing work products to ensure process compliance and project success.
Interface with Software Test to validate software function and quality.
Interface with Electrical Development to assure hardware/software integration.
Coordinate with Electrical Engineering Process Group to adhere to development process requirements.
Coordinate with Electrical Systems for integration of software to hardware for final product function, validation, and launch to meet requirements.
Interface with Mechanical Engineering, Microelectronics Assembly, Electronics Assembly, Final Assembly, Applied Materials, and Quality departments to support the execution of Electrical Engineering products into applications.
Participate in Product Launch Teams as required.
Technical Leadership and Influence in the execution of all primary responsibilities.
Day-to-day direction and support of software engineers in area of responsibility.
Career development and compensation planning of software engineers in area of responsibility
Secondary responsibilities:
Maintain knowledge of company electrical, mechanical, test, and manufacturing practices and engineer consistent with them.

Assist in the recruiting and screening of candidates, as required.
