The Security Director is responsible for the daily oversight of each department, Social Services, Maintenance, and Security. The candidate must have a valid NYS Security Guard License, NYS Fire Guard Certification (F02), Certificate of Fitness (F80), and First Aid/CPR Certificate.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Oversees daily operations of each Department to ensure a secure and functional environment for the residents, staff and visitors
- Ensures that fire drills are executed as required
- Ensures that monthly Fire Safety/Fire Extinguisher inspections are conducted as necessary
- Leads and directs security team in the event of an emergency evacuation
- Ensures daily log, visitor and resident daily and nightly sign-in / out logs, and other records are maintained in an accurate and timely manner by security staff
- Trains security staff in response to crisis situations using nonphysical methods and follows Home/Life protocol by deciding what actions are needed, informing supervisor of actions taken, and following up as needed through log book, written note, or telephone conversation
- Ensures Security Guards and Supervisors acquire an understanding of building features and potential problems
- Continuously observes all residents and develops the ability to recognize signs of substance abuse, child abuse, domestic violence, and criminal activity and immediately advises the appropriate staff and works with the facility team to conduct investigations, as appropriate
- Ensures that the interior/exterior of building, surrounding perimeter, and client dormitories are monitored by a security guard
- Ensures that security staff actively monitor CCTV system, and immediately report to supervisor activities that violate safety and security protocols, and logs observations
- Must report a Priority One to Program Director within 30 minutes of incident
- Complete performance evaluations and performance counseling forms if needed
- Makes sure all Security Guards are properly dressed in their uniforms
- Makes sure all Security Guards treat clients and employees with respect
- Reporting complaints and or issues to the Program Director immediately
- Responsible for overseeing the general operations of the Facility, including maintenance
- Reports all maintenance concerns and coordinates with maintenance vendor
- Responsible for overseeing unit turn-overs and ensuring efficient and timely turnover
- Must report to the Program Director the cleanliness state of the facility
- In the event of an emergency, Essential Employees are required to report to work as scheduled
- Duties and responsibilities are subject to change based upon assessment of company needs
Skills and Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent required
- Valid NYS Security License, Fire Guard Certification (F02) and a Certificate of Fitness (F80) required
- Three to five (3-5) years of security and management experience preferred
- Must complete DHS 40 hour training within 1 week of employment
- Must be able to make clear decisions and handle situations fairly under pressure and during stressful situations
- Must be able to interact effectively with the facility staff and client population (verbally and in writing)
- Must be willing and able to be certified in First Aid/CPR
- Must be willing and able to remain at post beyond regularly scheduled hours for appropriate relief, if necessary
- Must be able to perform physical activities such as run, lift etc.
- Bilingual in English/Spanish is a plus
