As a member of the senior management team reporting to the Chief Administrative Officer, the
CIO develops the vision and overall business strategy of the IT organization. The CIO oversees IT management, team members, and external partners to ensure that infrastructure, business applications and cybersecurity are working efficiently and effectively. The CIO works within our technology practice on project work including M&A due diligence’s, strategic enterprise architecture, architecture of post-merger integrations, and high-level plans for carve-outs. The CIO is responsible for all aspects of the organization’s information technology and systems and ensures that all IT assets and systems are functioning smoothly for the employees and extended workforce of the organization. The IT organization at the company is not only reactionary. You will collaborate with others to proactively lead the direction of the business.
Job responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Provide vision, leadership, and management for the IT services being delivered to the company, including but not limited to infrastructure services, operations, desk side support, business application development, deployment and management, and cybersecurity.
- Define and measure IT services performance against service levels, using measurable KPIs.
- Oversee the development and implementation of new applications, and changes to existing computer systems and software packages, including HRIS, ERP, CRM, and CPQ.
- Ideate, evaluate and oversee the implementation of system and process enhancements.
- Establish company infrastructure to support and guide individual divisions, departments and sites in computing and information technology efforts.
- Establish and implement short- and long-term departmental goals, objectives, policies, and operating procedures.
- Head the IT planning and policy-making committees.
- Direct and manage strategic computing and information technology plans, policies, programs, and schedules for business computer services, network communications, and management information services, to accomplish corporate goals and objectives.
- Evaluate overall operations of computing and information technology functions and recommend enhancements.
- Advise executive peers on strategic system conversions and integrations in support of business goals and objectives.
- Review and approve major contracts for computing and information technology services and equipment.
- Lead strategic and operational IT planning to achieve business goals by fostering innovation, prioritizing IT initiatives, and coordinating the evaluation, deployment, and management of current and future IT systems across the organization.
- Recruit, retain and develop a high performing team that is accountable to the business, encourages creativity, drives performance and promotes a collaborative spirit.
- Continue to foster a culture of exceptional service quality at all levels of the organization with a focus on creating a team that distinguishes itself through a passion and commitment to excellence.
- Establish IT departmental goals, objectives, and operating procedures.
- Assess and communicate risks associated with IT investments.
- Develop, track, and control the information technology annual operating and capital budgets.
- Develop business case justifications and cost/benefit analyses for IT spending and initiatives.
- Direct development and execution of enterprise-wide disaster recovery and business continuity plans.
- Assess and make recommendations on the improvement or re-engineering of the IT organization.
- Keep current with trends and issues in the IT industry, including current technologies and prices. Advise, counsel, and educate executives and management on their competitive or financial impact.
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Engineering or related area from an accredited institution is required. A Master’s Degree is preferred.
- Minimum of ten years of experience leading IT for a publicly traded company.
- Demonstrated experience with IT systems and IT management at a senior level, with a sequence of increasing responsibilities in large and diverse business settings.
- Experience with and understanding of strategic and business planning methods, tools, and processes.
- Experience in working through major organizational change.
- A track record of successful large project implementations.
- Demonstrated business savvy in working effectively with other executives to achieve key business and technology goals.
- Proven experience in IT planning, organization, and development.
- Excellent understanding of project management principles.
- Sufficient vision acuity for routine computer use, and moderate to heavy reading and writing responsibilities
- Experience providing practical advice under pressure and prioritizing work.
- An individual of highest personal and professional integrity, principle and knowledge, earning respect and support when making difficult decisions and choices. Able to establish immediate credibility with peers, senior leadership, and the Board.
