What You'll Be Doing
The Vice President of the Sports Licensing Segment will be responsible for leading the overall business strategy, growth, and profitability within the sports licensing category. This senior leadership role will drive the company’s sales efforts, focusing on acquiring new licenses, negotiating agreements, developing market offers, and managing key relationships to maximize revenue and profitability. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in licensing, sales management, and business development within the sports industry.
Business Strategy & Planning
- Develop and execute the business strategy for the Sports Licensing Segment, aligned with overall company goals.
- Identify new growth opportunities within the sports licensing industry, including emerging markets and innovative licensing opportunities.
- Conduct market analysis to inform strategy, including trends, competitive landscape, and consumer behavior.
License Negotiation & Management
- Lead the negotiation and development of new sports licenses, ensuring favorable terms and long-term partnerships.
- Cultivate and manage relationships with key stakeholders, including sports teams, leagues, and licensors.
- Oversee the full lifecycle of license agreements, from negotiation through execution and renewal.
Sales Management & Growth
- Carry a sales quota for the sports licensing segment, with responsibility for meeting and exceeding annual revenue targets.
- Build and manage a high-performing sales team, ensuring consistent achievement of sales targets and KPIs.
- Drive business development efforts, including identifying new opportunities and building relationships with key prospects.
Market Offer Development
- Develop and refine the market offer for sports licensing, identifying product opportunities that align with market demand and company capabilities.
- Implement strategies for brand positioning and value differentiation in the marketplace.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Sports Management, or related field. Master’s degree preferred.
- Minimum of 10 years in sports licensing, sales, or business development, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
- Proven experience negotiating and managing large licensing agreements within the sports industry.
- Track record of driving sales growth and exceeding revenue targets in a quota-carrying role.
- Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a high-performing sales team.
- Excellent negotiation skills and a deep understanding of licensing processes and contract management.
- Ability to travel up to 50% for client meetings, industry events, and business development
