This Diesel Powertrain Calibration Engineer position involves evaluating, assessing, testing, & optimizing vehicle attributes.
- Modify vehicle and powertrain calibrations to meet attributes including emissions, drivability, performance, diagnostics, fuel economy, and NVH. This can be on vehicles and/or in engine dynamometer test cells
- Responsibilities could include specialization in Engine combustion setpoints, SCR Aftertreatment operation, DPF Regen Mode operation and temperature control, CAN communications, and diagnostics calibration meeting requirements based on robust statistical metrics
- Perform data analysis and regress model calibrations with large data sets & communicate conclusions
- Interface with software algorithm suppliers (internal and external) to evaluate new features prior to development process
- Calibrate and sign-off features for future model year Diesel programs
- Document progress and methods used to calibrate & validate features within assigned responsibility
- Use models and simulation to reduce testing and optimize powertrain calibrations
- Position may require travel to remote development locations (Arizona/Canada/Colorado/Florida) for vehicle testing – approximately 2 weeks per trip and 3 trips per year
