LOCATION: Detroit, MI - This role is primarily remote with occasional office meetings held at our headquarters in downtown Detroit.
POSITION OVERVIEW: We are seeking a highly-skilled Systems Engineer with extensive experience in Microsoft Azure cloud infrastructure and robust knowledge in cybersecurity frameworks, including NIST, OWASP, HIPAA, SOC, and PCI. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring the reliability, scalability, and security of our systems as we advance our cutting-edge payment processing services.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:.
- Cloud Infrastructure Management: Design, implement, and manage cloud-based solutions using Microsoft Azure and other technologies.
- Compliance and Security: Ensure systems comply with industry security standards such as NIST, OWASP, HIPAA, SOC, and PCI, conducting regular risk assessments, security audits and assessments. Lead security & compliance initiatives, staying in the know on industry standards, technologies, trends, threats and risks.
- Network Security: Strengthen network security with firewalls, VPNs, IDS/IPS, and endpoint protection solutions.
- Scripting and Automation: Develop scripts (PowerShell, Python, or similar) for automation and process improvement.
- Performance Monitoring: Monitor system performance, security events, and incidents, responding appropriately to mitigate risks.
- Incident Response/Disaster Recovery: Participate in disaster recovery and incident response efforts as needed.
- Collaboration: Work with cross-functional teams to deploy secure, resilient, and high-performance cloud infrastructure.
- Documentation and Policies: Develop and maintain security policies, procedures, and system documentation.
System Components Maintenance:
- IAM: Oversee Microsoft identity (Entra) and internal Active Directory environments, users and licenses.
- End User Compute and Servers: Manage, maintain and optimize end user and server infrastructure.
- Communication Channels: Manage and secure internal and external communication channels such as Exchange Online, Teams, SMTP, etc.
- DNS & Domain Management: Oversee DNS configurations and manage domain names to ensure seamless and secure communication.
- Certificates & PGP Management: Handle SSL/TLS certificates and PGP keys, ensuring all data transmission is encrypted and secure.
- File Transfer Protocol (FTP): Set up, manage, and secure SFTP servers.
- Portal Management: Administer and secure portals, ensuring they are compliant with security standards.
- Patch / Vulnerability Management: Utilize endpoint and vulnerability management systems to ensure all devices are up to date and secure.
- Endpoint Detection and Response: Work with MSSP and internal systems to ensure complete and monitored EDR coverage for all systems.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. In lieu of a Bachelor's degree, relevant work experience in combination with certifications.
- Proven experience as a Systems Engineer with a strong focus on cloud infrastructure (Microsoft Azure is preferred).
- Expertise in managing core system components (Exchange Server, DNS, Domain Management, Certificates, SFTP, Entra, Portals, and BigFix).
- In-depth knowledge of cloud security frameworks and compliance standards (NIST, OWASP, HIPAA, SOC, PCI).
- Strong understanding of network security including firewalls, VPNs, IDS/IPS, and endpoint protection.
- Experience with security tools and platforms such as SIEM, vulnerability management, and identity access management.
- Solid scripting skills (PowerShell, Python, or similar) for automation and process improvement.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
PREFERRED SKILLS:
- Relevant certifications (e.g., Azure Solutions Architect, CISSP, CISM, CISA).
- Experience with DevOps practices and tools (CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure as code).
- Familiarity with regulatory compliance requirements for financial payment processing.
