We are seeking a Senior System Administrator to play a pivotal role in our IT infrastructure, ensuring the smooth running of critical systems and supporting key migration projects as we modernize our global IT landscape.
Position Overview:
The Senior System Administrator will be responsible for managing and optimizing our Active Directory (AD) infrastructure, leading the migration to Azure Active Directory (Entra ID), and performing global server upgrades. You will also focus on ensuring high levels of system availability, security, and performance while being a proactive leader on key IT projects. The ideal candidate is a self-motivated individual with strong on-premises and cloud experience, who excels in managing large-scale environments with minimal oversight.
Key Responsibilities:
Active Directory / Azure AD (Entra ID) Management:
- Manage, maintain, and optimize the global Active Directory environment. Lead the migration from on-prem AD to Azure Active Directory (Entra ID), ensuring a seamless transition across the organization.
Global Server Upgrades:
- Oversee server upgrades across multiple global locations, ensuring the infrastructure is scalable, secure, and optimized for performance.
Group Policy Management (GPO):
- Design, implement, and manage Group Policy Objects (GPOs) for effective policy enforcement across all user accounts and devices.
Conditional Access:
- Implement and manage conditional access policies to strengthen our security posture in both on-premises and cloud environments.
VMWare and Azure Management:
- Manage and optimize VMWare and Azure environments to ensure high availability, security, and efficient use of resources.
Hyper-Converged Infrastructure (HCI):
- Work with Hyper-Converged Infrastructure to streamline management, increase resource availability, and improve scalability.
Security and Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with security standards and best practices, implementing robust access controls and proactive monitoring to mitigate potential risks.
Project Leadership and Execution:
- Lead IT projects from conception through completion, including planning, implementation, and monitoring. Self-manage projects with minimal supervision, ensuring deadlines are met and quality standards are maintained.
Collaboration and Communication:
- Collaborate with global IT teams and stakeholders to provide expert-level troubleshooting, resolve escalated issues, and communicate technical concepts to non-technical staff effectively.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Strong Active Directory / Azure AD (Entra ID) Expertise: Proven experience managing large-scale AD environments and leading migrations to Azure Active Directory.
- Cloud & On-Prem Expertise: Solid experience with both cloud (Azure) and on-premises environments.
- Server Administration: Extensive experience with Windows Server environments, including upgrades, patching, and maintenance.
- VMWare & Azure Management: Hands-on experience with VMWare virtualization and Azure cloud infrastructure.
- Security & Conditional Access: Strong understanding of security principles, conditional access policies, and their implementation in hybrid environments.
- Hyper-Converged Infrastructure: Knowledge and experience working with Hyper-Converged Infrastructure systems would be beneficial.
- Project Management: Proven ability to lead IT projects with minimal oversight, manage timelines, and collaborate with global teams.
- Communication & Self-Starter: Excellent communication skills, ability to work independently, and drive initiatives forward without hand-holding.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience in the pharmaceutical or highly regulated industry.
- Certifications in Microsoft, Azure, or VMWare.
