Taylor County RECC (TCRECC) is seeking a highly qualified professional for the position of IT Specialist as described below. This position will facilitate utilization of technology by TCRECC employees to promote the functional and efficient delivery of electric power, cooperative member services, and administrative activities. The person filling this full-time position will be responsible for all technical systems including hardware, software, and processes along with VoIP and cellular data. The majority of responsibilities are in the office with occasional outside work. Outside work may be required in all weather conditions. Occasional lifting, carrying and/or installation of equipment, wiring, will be required. Occasional work outside of normal office hours may be scheduled for maintenance/installation of computer systems. Emergency situations could involve long and unusual work hours. Occasional off-site training, statewide conferences, software user’s conferences, some involving overnight stays, will be required.
Skill/Qualification Requirements
1. Bachelor’s degree in information technology or other technology degrees preferred.
2. 2-5 years of experience in IT related activities is preferred.
3. Experience with Microsoft Access and relational databases.
4. Ability to communicate effectively with non-technical users.
5. Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently.
6. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
7. Represents TCRECC well in appearance, conduct, knowledge, and professionalism.
8. Experience with VoIP phone systems.
9. Well-versed in Windows, Linux, iOS, Microsoft 365 suite
10. Valid driver’s license and be able to operate light-duty vehicles.
Major Job Responsibilities:
1. Technical Support:
o Investigate and resolve system-related issues promptly.
o Address issues concerning problems with servers, networks, computers, software applications, etc.
o Provide technical assistance and training to end-users regarding hardware and software issues.
o Assist in system upgrades and maintenance tasks to ensure smooth transitions.
2. System Management:
o Manage troubleshooting protocols; implement preventive measures against recurring issues.
o Identify opportunities for system improvements; collaborate with IT Manager on improvements, best practices, potential projects.
3. Network & Server Administration:
o Monitor, maintain, and assist with network resources, including firewalls, switches, wireless access points, and servers.
o Diagnose and resolve issues when they arise.
o Proactive identify and recommend upgrades for defective or outdated components when necessary.
4. Project Management:
o Planning, coordinating, and overseeing IT projects from initiation to completion.
o Maintain comprehensive documentation of all information pertaining to IT projects, ensuring accuracy and accessibility for future reference and knowledge sharing.
5. Training and Documentation
o Maintain documentation of help desk issues, resolutions, network inventory, etc.
o Provide training to TCRECC employees on software applications and technology systems.
