Role Description
As the Vice President of Sales and Partnerships, you will be responsible for leading our sales team to achieve and exceed sales targets, while also spearheading the development and management of strategic partnerships. This role requires a dynamic individual with a proven track record in sales leadership, partnership development, and team management. This role reports directly to the CEO. While based in the New York City Metropolitan Area, this position offers flexibility for some remote work.
Key Responsibilities:
Setting and achieving sales targets:
- Partner with the CEO, VP, Revenue and VP, Finance to set monthly, quarterly, and annual sales targets and quotas.
- Develop and implement sales strategies to meet or exceed revenue targets.
- Analyze market trends and customer needs to identify opportunities for growth.
- Monitor sales performance and adjust strategies as needed to ensure targets are met.
Building partnership channel playbook and relationships:
- Identify and cultivate strategic partnerships that align with company objectives.
- Develop a partnership playbook outlining best practices, processes, commercial incentives and structures, and metrics for successful collaboration.
- Foster strong relationships with partners, ensuring mutual value and long-term success.
Setting the sales team up for success:
- Partner with CEO and VP, Finance to design, refine, and manage commission incentives and structures.
- Provide leadership and direction to the sales team, setting clear objectives and performance expectations.
- Create a supportive and motivating work environment that encourages team collaboration and innovation.
- Implement sales tools, systems, and processes to streamline operations and maximize efficiency.
- Set and manage the sales team budget.
Training and managing talent:
- Recruit, onboard, and train new sales team members, ensuring they have the skills and knowledge to excel in their roles.
- Provide ongoing coaching and mentorship to support the professional development of team members.
- Conduct performance evaluations and implement performance improvement plans as needed.
Work across the business:
- Partner closely with Client Success to ensure a seamless transition from Sales to Client Success ownership of account, renewals, and upsells.
- Partner closely with Marketing to identify compelling campaign opportunities.
- Partner closely with Marketing to develop key promotional and competitive materials.
- Partner closely with Product and Engineering to identify commercial products and opportunities across the market along with prospect needs and feedback
- Create SLAs and structure for pulling key resources across the business into deals to improve likelihood to win.
- Provide market feedback to leaders across the business in an effective and actionable format.
- Partner closely with leadership to report on and manage expectations on sales team performance.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or related field;Proven track record of success in sales leadership roles, with a minimum of 10 years of experience.
- Experience in ecommerce, collectibles, insurance, or payments technology preferred.
- Experience selling to enterprise and mid-market businesses.
- Has successfully implemented sales practices and built successful sales teams
- Experience working in early stage start-ups with limited resources; prepared to go the extra mile and get the job done
- Track record growing revenue from $10M to $50M+.
- Demonstrated ability to meet and exceed sales targets in a fast-paced and competitive environment.
- Strong negotiation and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport and influence key stakeholders.
- Experience in developing and managing strategic partnerships, with a focus on driving mutual value and long-term growth.
- Excellent leadership and team management skills, with the ability to hire, train, retain, inspire and motivate a diverse team.
- Proficiency in sales software and CRM systems, with the ability to analyze data and generate actionable insights.
