Peregrine Advisors Benefit Inc. seeks a highly motivated, outcome-oriented, and technically adept Azure Cloud Engineer to support Peregrine initiatives and our engagements with leading state and federal government agencies. This position will play a pivotal role in designing, implementing, and managing cloud-based solutions using Microsoft Azure. The position requires a robust understanding of Azure services and cloud architecture, with an emphasis on security and compliance in line with national standards, and a desire to dual-hat as a data engineer. As an Azure Cloud Engineer, you will be instrumental in driving the migration of existing systems to the cloud, optimizing cloud resources for efficiency and cost-effectiveness, and ensuring the highest level of security and compliance in our cloud infrastructure.

Responsibilities Include
- Design and deploy scalable, secure, and fault-tolerant systems on Microsoft Azure for clients
- Lead migration initiatives to transition existing on-premises applications and infrastructure to Azure
- Manage and monitor cloud environments, focusing on performance optimization and cost management
- Implement and maintain robust cloud security measures, ensuring adherence to compliance standards such as FISMA and NIST guidelines
- Utilize infrastructure as code and automation tools like Bicep or Terraform to streamline cloud deployments and management
- Work collaboratively with client development teams to integrate Azure services into their software development and operational processes
- Provide expertise on a range of Azure services, including but not limited to Virtual Machines, SQL Servers, Storage Accounts, Virtual Networks, Azure Functions, Container Apps, and Events
- Conduct technical audits and reviews of Azure environments to ensure compliance with cloud security best practices and standards
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues in cloud environments, providing high-level support
- Keep abreast of the latest developments in cloud technologies and Azure services, advising on potential improvements and innovations
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field AND 3 years of experience working with Azure cloud services, preferably in a government context
- Extensive knowledge and proven experience with Azure cloud architecture, services, and best practices
- Experience with infrastructure as code and cloud automation tools (Bicep, Terraform, etc.)
- Familiarity with scripting for automation (Python, Azure CLI, Bash, etc.)
- An understanding of Azure network technologies and topologies
- Knowledge of role-based access control (RBAC) and account-based access control (ABAC) in Microsoft Entra
- Proven problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt in a fast-paced, dynamic state agency environment
- Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively across diverse teams
- AZ-900 and AZ-104 certifications or demonstration of equivalent knowledge through work experience
- Must be able to commute regularly to Washington DC
Desirable
- Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field AND 2 years of experience working with Azure cloud services, preferably in a government context
- Experience in cloud security and compliance within a government framework, including understanding of FISMA and NIST standards
- Experience with Azure Synapse Analytics or Azure Data Factory
- Experience with data engineering and data pipelines
- Experience with Agile development principles
- Experience with CI/CD code development and deployment systems (GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps)
- DP-900 or DP-203 certifications or demonstration of equivalent knowledge
- AZ-305 certification or demonstration of equivalent knowledge
