Job Title: Section 508 Specialist
Job Description:
We are looking for a experienced Section 508 Specialist to join our team as a contractor. The ideal candidate will possess experience in conducting Section 508 assessment, testing, remediation, and (potentially) training. Our agency coordinates Section 508 remediation and other accessibility-related work for a number of federal government agencies and private sector companies. Interacting with our project coordinator, you would be a part of our accessibility team making documents, presentations, web assets, and other products Section 508 compliant, meeting strict standards of some of high-profile clients, and sometimes operating in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Experience in remediation of electronic documents (PDF, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) for Section 508
- Regular Assessments: Conduct regular assessments to evaluate compliance with Section 508 standards.
- Reporting: Generate reports on accessibility compliance for the client stakeholders.
Qualifications:
- Knowledge: Strong understanding of Section 508 standards and accessibility requirements.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in using accessibility assessment tools and software.
- Detail-Oriented: Ability to identify and document accessibility issues accurately and quickly.
- Communication Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to address accessibility challenges.
- Experience with testing tools such as JAWS, NVDA, CommonLook, Color Contrast Analyzer, and WebAIM.
- Experience with web accessibility testing tools such as Deque Axe, ANDI, SiteImprove, MicroAssist, and Wave.
Preferred:
- Certifications: Certification in accessibility (such as CPACC, WAS, or CPWA) is a plus.
- Government Experience: Experience working with federal government agencies or similar environments.
- Continuous Improvement: Commitment to staying updated with the latest accessibility standards and best practices.
- You must be a U.S citizen, with your own equipment and up-to-date applications/tools necessary to perform on a remote, contract basis.
