Requirements
The Parks and Recreation Department has an exciting opportunity for an organized, communicative and responsible professional to join the team as a Department Program Coordinator. This position is directly responsible for numerous high level department projects such as CAPRA accreditation, metrics, public records requests, grants coordination, succession planning and more. In addition to being a result driven person with a strong work ethic, other requirements include:
- Supervisory experience with administrative team members.
- Experience supporting advisory boards.
- Experience with public outreach and engagement, including interactions with organization leaders, volunteers and citizens.
In performing the daily functions for this position, the Department Program Coordinator is responsible for activities such as:
- Hiring, training, scheduling, motivating and supervising administrative staff.
- Answering customer inquiries by phone, email or in person with the utmost care and drive for positive customer service.
- Facilitating and coordinating large team meetings including engaging supervisory staff in attendance.
- Coordinating department technological needs and liaising with the IT department.
- Special project assignments on behalf of the department director.

The ideal candidate for this position will have
- Strong leadership, communication and organizational skills along with the ability to successfully manage time and staff, while assigning and overseeing tasks.
- Experience motivating teams, while fostering a collaborative, positive and productive environment with both their staff and staff throughout the department.
- Demonstrated problem-solving skills and adaptability.
- The proven ability to identify, assess and mitigate potential risks and challenges, minimizing disruptions to department-wide projects.
- Active listening skills to understand the concerns and perspectives of team members staff and stakeholders.
- Experience organizing and managing multiple projects at any one time, ensuring they stay on track and under budget, using resources and information effectively.
- Skill at analyzing project goals and objectives to develop plans and strategies to successfully achieve them.
- The ability to adapt to changing project requirements and circumstances, remaining flexible and responsive.
- An enthusiastic attitude that encourages a positive state of mind for project teams and department staff.
- An innate integrity coupled with the desire to foster trust in the team and promote an ethical and responsible work environment.
