A fast-growing tech start-up operates a B2B platform that emphasizes innovation and integrity. As we expand, we seek a dedicated Head of Risk to spearhead our fraud prevention and risk management efforts.
The Role
This position involves crafting and executing fraud prevention strategies, overseeing risk operations, and ensuring adherence to industry regulations. The perfect candidate will possess extensive fraud detection, payment security, and risk analytics knowledge.
What You’ll Do
- Develop and own the company’s overall risk and fraud management strategy, aligned with business objectives.
- Identify, assess, and monitor risks and fraud across all business functions (e.g., compliance, legal, cybersecurity, financial, operational).
- Manage real-time fraud detection processes, chargeback disputes, and account takeovers.
- Implement risk assessment tools, dashboards, and reporting frameworks.
- Collaborate with legal, compliance, security, product, and engineering teams to embed risk-aware decision-making across the organization.
- Oversee third-party risk, including vendor assessments and due diligence.
- Design and lead incident response plans and business continuity protocols.
- Communicate key risks and mitigation strategies to the executive team and board of directors.
- Lead internal audits or partner with third parties to assess controls and gaps.
- Ensure compliance with global financial and data security regulations such as PCI-DSS, PSD2, and AML/KYC requirements.
What We’re Looking For
- 7+ years in risk management, fraud prevention, payments security, compliance, or a related field, ideally with 2+ years in a tech or high-growth startup environment.
- Deep understanding of operational, cyber, regulatory, and financial risk.
- ExStrong understanding of fraud detection tools, risk scoring models, and transaction monitoring systems.
- Experience working with payment processors, acquiring banks, and financial institutions.
- Proficiency in data analytics and fraud investigation methodologies.
