System Administrator

We are seeking a motivated and experienced System Administrator to join our IT department and help ensure the reliability, security, and performance of our infrastructure.
About the Role
As a System Administrator, you will be responsible for installing, configuring, and maintaining the company’s IT systems and networks. You’ll collaborate closely with the IT team to ensure all systems meet organizational and regulatory requirements—particularly related to CMMC Level 2 and NIST SP 800-171 compliance. This role involves hands-on technical work, troubleshooting, and driving continuous improvements in a secure IT environment.
Key Responsibilities
Server Administration
- Install, configure, and maintain Windows and/or Linux servers (physical and virtual)
- Manage server roles including Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and file/print services
- Perform regular system updates, patching, and optimization
Network & Infrastructure
- Maintain and support network components including switches, routers, and firewalls
- Monitor network performance and resolve connectivity issues
- Collaborate with the network team to ensure secure, high-performing networks
Security & Compliance
- Adhere to cybersecurity best practices and regulatory requirements (e.g., CMMC Level 2, NIST SP 800-171)
- Monitor logs, enforce security policies, and respond to security incidents
- Assist in identifying and remediating vulnerabilities and maintaining audit readiness
Virtualization & Cloud
- Manage virtual environments (VMware, Hyper-V)
- Provision and optimize virtual machines
- Support cloud-based services and integrations as needed
Backup & Disaster Recovery
- Implement and maintain data backup and disaster recovery solutions
- Test backups and recovery processes to ensure data integrity
Technical Support & Documentation
- Provide Tier 2/3 support to end users and IT teams
- Troubleshoot hardware, software, and network issues
- Maintain detailed system and process documentation
Collaboration & Improvement
- Work closely with cross-functional teams (DevOps, Networking, Security)
- Participate in system upgrades, capacity planning, and IT projects
- Stay informed on emerging technologies and recommend improvements
Qualifications
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent work experience
- 3+ years in a System Administrator, Network Administrator, or similar role
Technical Skills
- Strong experience with Windows Server and/or Linux administration
- Proficiency in Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, and scripting (PowerShell, Bash)
- Familiarity with virtualization (VMware, Hyper-V)
- Basic networking knowledge (LAN/WAN, VLANs, routing, firewalls)
Security & Compliance
- Knowledge of CMMC Level 2, NIST SP 800-171, or similar frameworks preferred
- Experience implementing cybersecurity best practices
Soft Skills
- Strong problem-solving and analytical thinking
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Effective communication and collaboration across departments
- Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
Preferred Qualifications
- CompTIA Security+, Network+, or similar certifications
- Experience in an aerospace or manufacturing environment
- Familiarity with backup and disaster recovery technologies
