Job Description
We are seeking an experienced
IT System Administrator for a
contract role to support
federal IT cloud modernization projects focused on
AWS. This position will play a key role in ensuring the infrastructure and systems are highly available, secure, and optimized for performance in alignment with
federal regulations and
cloud best practices.
Responsibilities
- Provide day-to-day administration and support of cloud infrastructure and IT systems in a federal IT environment on AWS.
- Lead cloud migration efforts and support ongoing modernization projects, ensuring systems are configured and deployed in accordance with federal security requirements (e.g., FedRAMP, NIST 800-53).
- Implement and manage AWS services (EC2, S3, RDS, IAM, Lambda) to meet project goals and contract objectives.
- Support the integration of Drupal CMS for content management needs as part of the IT modernization initiative.
- Develop and execute strategies for monitoring, scaling, and securing the AWS cloud environment to meet federal compliance standards.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to cloud services, networking, system configurations, and security vulnerabilities.
- Work with the development and cybersecurity teams to address project-specific needs and ensure technical documentation is accurate and aligned with project specifications.
- Provide ongoing system support and ensure availability and performance for users and stakeholders within the organization.
- Maintain regular communication with contract stakeholders, ensuring deliverables are met on time and within the scope of the contract.
Qualifications
- 6+ years of progressive IT experience, with at least 2 years supporting federal IT cloud modernization projects, particularly with AWS.
- Expertise with AWS cloud services (EC2, S3, IAM, Lambda, etc.), with a strong understanding of cloud infrastructure and security compliance (FedRAMP, NIST).
- Experience in managing and maintaining Drupal CMS platforms, including installation, configuration, and troubleshooting.
- Proven experience with system administration in both Windows and Linux environments, as well as networking and cloud-based security best practices.
- Proficient in using automation tools (Terraform, Ansible, or similar) to streamline cloud infrastructure management.
- Strong familiarity with federal compliance standards and experience in IT modernization projects within the federal sector.
- Experience working in a contractor capacity or on federal government projects is preferred.
- Ability to collaborate effectively across teams and communicate clearly with stakeholders and technical teams.
Preferred Qualifications
- AWS certifications, such as AWS Certified SysOps Administrator, Solutions Architect, or Security Specialty.
- Experience with containerization and DevOps tools (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
- Previous work with public sector contracts or government IT projects.
