Northrop Grumman Classified Solutions is seeking a well-qualified Principal Network Communications Analyst to join its dynamic team of technical professionals in Linthicum, MD. Please note that the selected candidate will be required to work on-site, full-time, at our Linthicum, MD campus; this is not a remote work opportunity.
Primary Responsibilities will include but not be limited to the following:
Maintain smooth operation of Local Area (LAN), Wide Area (WAN), and Virtual Private (VPN) networks.
Plan, evaluate, and coordinate the installation and/or reconfiguration of hardware and software elements of data and/or voice communication network(s).
Maintain technical expertise in all areas of networks and computer hardware and software interconnections and interfacing, such as routers, multiplexers, firewalls, hubs, bridges, gateways, etc.
Propose solutions to management to ensure all communications requirements are satisfied based on future needs and current usage, configuring such solutions as applicable to optimize cost savings.
Prepare and ensure that appropriate network documentation exists, including operational instructions.
Provide regular monitoring and network analysis regarding short- and long-range planning for in-house systems.
Coordinate third-party maintenance for network equipment.
Design network or portion of network that includes selection of hardware and software packages.
Plan, manage, and implement network designs in support of customer requirements in collaboration with team.
Develop technical solutions to technical problems which require the regular use of ingenuity and creativity.
Support network teams in project designs to clarify project requirements and provide design solutions, in accordance with standards.
Perform troubleshooting analysis of network infrastructure and associated systems.
Document network hardware and software technology components.
Install and configure routers, switches and firewalls, including but not limited to: Cisco, Palo Alto, HP, Dell, and Juniper devices.
Implement and troubleshoot LAN technologies such as VLANs, 802.1q trunking (port tagging), spanning-tree, and protocols.
Provide third-level support and troubleshooting of network problems.
Provide after-hours and weekend support.
Work independently without direct supervision.
Exercise considerable latitude in determining technical objectives of assignments.
Implement and troubleshoot WAN technologies such as EIGRP, BGP, OSPF, and telco circuits (T1, T3, OC3, etc.).
Interface regularly with customers and manage customer installation timelines and deliverables to help facilitate successful deployments.
Manage timely resolution of all critical and/or complex problems in accordance with established SLA requirements.
When necessary, configure HAIPE/TACLANE and other military COMSEC/CRYPTO equipment and write procedures.
When necessary, use network analysis tools (i.e. WireShark, SolarWinds, Opnet, etc.) to troubleshoot networking issues.
Basic Qualifications:
Master's Degree with 3 years of IT experience, or a Bachelor's Degree with 5 years of IT experience, or an Associate's Degree with 7 years of IT experience; a High School diploma/GED with 9 years of IT experience may be considered in lieu of a completed degree.
Must have a DOD 8570 IAT level 2 baseline certification (example: Security+ CE); maintaining the required certification will be a condition of continued employment.
Applicants must have a current DoD Secret level security clearance (at a minimum), to include a closed investigation date completed within the last 6 years, or must be enrolled in the DoD Continuous Evaluation Program (CEP), in order to be considered; the required security clearance must be maintained as a condition of continued employment.
Must have work experience designing and/or maintaining LAN & WAN based networks, managing routing protocols on any size environment, and experience with Cisco hardware (routers, switches, and firewalls).
Experience with Microsoft Office, Visio, Project, PowerPoint, and Excel.
Ability to lift equipment weighing up to 40 pounds is required.
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Network Engineering or other relevant field of study.
Cisco CCNA-Security certification, and 6 years of experience with network design, analysis, and administration of Cisco routers, switches, hubs, and Palo Alto firewalls.
Previous experience troubleshooting network procedures and best practices; experience with network challenges associated with systems integration, including COTS integration, capacity analysis, and system architecture design.
Familiarity with network management applications, like Splunk, Panorama, and/or Cisco ISE.
Experience in the use of network analysis tools (i.e. WireShark, SolarWinds, Opnet, etc.).
Experience designing and maintaining LAN & WAN based networks.
Demonstrated leadership skills, or previous management of small teams.
Ability to work after hours, and weekends, as needed.

Salary Range: $95,800.00 - $143,600.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
