Install, maintain, upgrade and support the County's information systems and network including but not limited to: servers, server applications, mass storage devices, network equipment, backup hardware and software, operating systems and other types of software. Participate in the analysis, design and planning of infrastructure to support new applications and technologies. Prepare, manage, and test physical security systems including but not limited to access control and CCTV hardware and software. Maintain physical elements of data centers (cooling, power, etc.)
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Other duties may be assigned.
- Plan, analyze, recommend, install, upgrade and support Microsoft server technology including (but not limited to) server and desktop operating systems, active directory and group policy
- Plan, analyze, recommend, install, upgrade and support Microsoft application server technology including (but not limited to) WSUS, SQL and Office 365
- Plan, analyze, recommend, install, upgrade and support Symantec Backup Exec, tape drives and libraries, proper backup and data preservation techniques
- Plan, analyze, recommend, install, upgrade, and support data center physical elements (cooling, power, etc.)
- Understands principles of routing and switching, firewalls, and VLAN's
- Understands and can implement virtualization technologies including servers and storage systems
- Prepare, manage and test Cisco telephony hardware and software
- Plan, analyze, recommend, install, upgrade and support mass storage hardware from various manufactures
- Advise Operational Network Manager on recurring hardware and software problems
- Respond to user requests for service that have been created via the IT work order system
- Plan or organize assigned tasks
- Refer users to IT help desk when requests are out of provided job scope or unsupported
- Assist IT department in the installation, testing, troubleshooting and repair of category 5 and 6 network cable and related hardware, such as patch panels and wall plates
- Utilize IT work order system in responding to, updating and closing user work order requests in a documented and organized manner
- Maintain County issued vehicle and equipment in a clean and good working condition
- Identify security considerations associated with planned releases of operating systems and make recommendations for systems security during all phases of the release process.
- Perform security risk analysis, track incident handling and reporting.
- Recommend, install and maintain intrusion and detection monitoring system.

High school graduation or its equivalent, plus at least two years of experience; or any equivalent combination of education and experience, which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Must have and maintain a valid, clear driving record.
Knowledge, Skills and/or ability
Knowledge of information systems analysis, design and development; networking concepts including bridges, routers, local and wide area networking protocols; routing and switching; methods, procedures, techniques, materials and equipment utilized in the installation, repair and maintenance of computers and electronic equipment. Skill in the application of Microsoft servers, NVR's, SQL Servers, Active Directory, IIS, WSUS, Microsoft Windows 7/8/10 and other operating systems, network security and firewalls, analytical problem solving; conducting needs assessments; creation of complete and concise documentation. Ability to maintain cooperative working relationship with those contacted in the course of work activities; effectively communicate verbally and in writing; maintain files, records, and reports; troubleshoot difficult hardware and software problems; and meet project deadlines; describe complex technical systems in non-technical terms.

Organize and prioritize tasks to be completed; operate computers, systems, software, and related equipment for the county; write reports, letters, and memos; read letters and memos; analyze various situations and determine the best solution; operate office equipment, such as copy machine and facsimile machine; communicate effectively, both orally and in writing; and establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, Commissioners, and county employees.
