NETWORK SYSTEMS ADMINISTRATOR
LOCATION: Board Administration Office, Pembroke
SCHEDULE: Monday-Friday, 35 hours per week
TERM: Permanent, full-time
RATE OF PAY: $42.01 - $42.83 (Group 12)

POSITION SUMMARY: A key member of the network support team, the Network Systems Administrator plans, installs and oversees the maintenance and security of the Wide Area and Local Area Networks, Externally hosted services (SASE / ZTNA) and computer related hardware. This role also provides training and supervision to staff on the effective operation and maintenance of networked systems.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
- High school (Grade 12) diploma, plus an additional post-secondary program of over three and up to four years or equivalent in a related discipline.
- Over one year of recent related experience required.
- Experience and formal training combined with demonstrated performance and ability may substitute for stipulated academic/experience requirements.
- Current and applicable Network Engineering Industry Certification required.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
- Plan, install and maintain telephony equipment and services.
- Support diagnostic testing and problem resolution of LANs and WAN.
- Configuration and programming for WAN routers and switches.
- Implement and manage access to Internet based services and resources.
- Maintain accurate network maps and documentation.
- Assist in the development and maintenance of a disaster recovery plan for WAN and LAN components.
- Implement and manage an electronic security system to protect WAN resources.
- Progressive experience in LAN and WAN installation and support.
- Strong technical knowledge of network Topologies and Protocols.
- Strong technical knowledge of edge and internet hosted security technologies (Firewalls / SASE / ZTNA).
- Strong organizational and time management skills with particular attention to detail.
- Focus on providing excellent customer service by identifying and meeting customer needs, using processes and procedures that are customer oriented and seeking solutions to resolve service issues.
- Valid Ontario Class G Drivers’ License; access to an insured vehicle for travel to district sites and will be required to transport equipment.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by the supervisor.
