The IT Help Desk Technician provides first-level technical support to employees, ensuring efficient resolution of hardware, software, and network-related issues. This role is responsible for troubleshooting, installation, and configuration of IT systems while delivering a high level of customer service. The ideal candidate has a strong technical foundation, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Core Responsibilities:
- Providing first-level help desk support for technical issues via phone, email, or in person.
- Ensuring prompt and professional IT support for senior executives as needed.
- Diagnosing and troubleshooting hardware, software, and network-related issues.
Installing, configuring, and maintaining computer systems, mobile devices, and peripherals (printers, scanners, monitors, etc.).
- Supporting Windows and macOS operating systems, ensuring updates and patches are applied.
- Assisting in network support, including LAN connectivity and basic troubleshooting.
- Collaborating with senior IT staff on firewall configurations and network security measures.
- Managing Microsoft 365 user accounts, including password resets and access permissions.
- Supporting mobile devices (iOS, Android) and troubleshooting connectivity issues.
- Maintaining documentation of technical procedures, troubleshooting steps, and user guides.
- Delivering exceptional customer service, effectively communicating solutions in non-technical terms.
- Traveling to different sites within the Lower Mainland to provide on-site support when needed.
Technical Skills:
- Strong knowledge of Windows and macOS operating systems.
- Experience supporting Microsoft 365 (Teams, Outlook, SharePoint, OneDrive).
- Basic understanding of network protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN).
- Familiarity with firewall and network security principles (preferred).
- Experience troubleshooting and supporting mobile devices (iOS, Android).
- Knowledge of help desk ticketing systems and remote support tools.
- Airtable knowledge (helpful but not required).
Interpersonal Skills:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to explain technical issues to non-technical users.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with attention to detail.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and work independently with minimal supervision.
- Customer service-oriented mindset with a friendly and professional approach.
- Strong documentation skills to maintain technical records and procedures.
Qualifications:
- 1+ years of experience in a help desk, IT support, or customer service role.
- A diploma or bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field (preferred).
- Relevant certifications (CompTIA A+, MCP, ITIL) are preferred but not required.
- Valid BC driver’s license and access to a vehicle for travel within the Lower Mainland.
- Experience in the construction industry (preferred but not required).
