SUMMARY:The Machinist III will perform alteration tasks on civil aviation articles in accordance with the current technical data provided in the manufacturers’ Instructions for Continued Airworthiness, Services Bulletins, service letters, Airworthiness Directives, government and industry standard practices, and other data acceptable to or approved by the FAA.In addition to that, the machinist will also develop, duplicate, and manufacture tooling equipment as required.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Prioritize components for repairs to ensure on time delivery requirements are met.
- Apply specialty coatings to aviation components as required.
- Ensures up-to-date knowledge of all tools and proper use of equipment within assigned area of responsibility.
- Document maintenance records of all repair work orders performed.
- Utilize precision measuring equipment daily.
- Develop and duplicate tooling using engineering drawings.
- Maintain inventory supplies for daily operation.
- Inspect work completed on aviation components.
- Operate manual lathe machines.
- Operate manual milling machines.
- Operate CNC machines
- Operate cut-off saws.
- Operate band saws.
- Operate bench grinders.
- Operate belt sanders.
- Operate drill presses.
- Operate the forklift as needed.
- Inspect work completed on aviation components.
- Other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Any Technical degree OR An additional 3 years of specific work experience in lieu of degree
- 5+ years of relevant/technical work experience
- An additional 3 years of specific work experience in lieu of degree.
- Flexible to changing workloads/priorities based on customer requirements.
- Maintain an orderly and productive work environment.
- Ability to function in fast paced environment while maintaining a high level of quality.
- CAD design knowledge, preferably Solid Works and Master Cam.
- Knowledge designing and operating CNC systems.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, Outlook and scheduling applications
PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:
- Any Technical Degree
- 8+ years of machinist experience is preferred
- 4+ years of welding experience is preferred
- Formal machining training
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, Outlook and scheduling applications
