DescriptionPrimary purpose:
To provide a high level of technical support on a regional or system basis relating to corrosion control and pipeline integrity. Design and maintain cathodic protection and internal corrosion control facilities. Conduct internal and external specialized corrosion tests on steel structures. Level 1 is an entry level position with approximately six to twelve months of training/work experience in order progress to next level
ResponsibilitiesEssential duties and responsibilities:
- Responsible for all activities related to corrosion control and pipeline integrity, including design, installation, operation, and
- maintenance, cathodic protection facilities, power lines, galvanic anodes and internal corrosion control facilities.
- Monitor the condition of the pipeline through pipe-to-soil potentials, visual inspection, examination of coupons, data from in-line tools,
- etc.
- Monitor electrical isolation and identify points of electrical shorts.
- Conduct various tests, measurements, and surveys to ensure efficient operation of cathodic protection facilities.
- Lead efforts to design and implement effective long term cathodic protection systems. Prepare drawings, job specifications and
- contract bid documents.
- Conduct atmospheric corrosion inspections for all aboveground piping and assist in developing remediation plans on atmospheric
- piping.
- Assist E&C and Engineering personnel with the evaluation / development / implementation and maintenance of facility grounding
- systems.
- Highly motivated self-starter with ability to complete and prioritize work assignments with minimal daily supervision.
- Identify, report and correct safety and environmental concerns.
- Complete appropriate documentation and paperwork.
- Oversee the construction and/or work activities performed by third parties.
- Perform all work in compliance with Company standards, procedures, and regulatory and tariff requirements.
- Demonstrate performance toward operational excellence.
- Mentor fellow employees when the opportunity presents itself.
- Evaluate and remediate corrosion anomalies i.e., pits, gouges, dents, etc.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to deal with a wide variety of people with tact, courtesy, and professionalism.
- Maintain a regular, dependable attendance and a consistently high level of performance.
- Will work non-traditional hours as needed.
- Maintain a high regard for personal safety, for the safety of company assets and employees, and the general public.

QualificationsMinimum requirements:
Education:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Preferred Associates degree from an accredited institution in a technical field or a related discipline, or direct work experience in pipeline system operations may be considered as substitute for a degree.
Experience/Specific Knowledge:
- Understand and operate all corrosion related instrumentation.
- Good record of safe work practices.
- Working knowledge of environmental and safety aspects of coating projects.
- Ability to operate and maintain chemical injection and pressure access equipment.
- Ability to estimate installation, operating and maintenance expenses associated with corrosion systems.
- Intermediate proficiency level in MS Office applications that may include but are not limited to Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook.
Certifications, Licenses & Registrations:
- May be required to achieve and maintain certifications as required to perform job duties.
- Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and a driving record satisfactory to the company and its insurers (for travel).

- Frequent travel, sometimes overnight, may be required.
- Occasional overtime may be required.
- Living environs will be relevant to the work location to address call outs and emergency response.
- May be required to carry a cell phone and be available to respond during working and non-working hours.

Supervisory Responsibility:
PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, CERTIFICATIONS, COMPETENCIES, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:
Above the minimum requirements: not required but advantageous in this position:
- NACE certification
- Experience in all phases of corrosion control and pipeline integrity as described in the Job Responsibilities.
- Experience with CPDM, RSTRENG, and Allegro/AI Tablet.
- Previous working knowledge of AC and DC electrical systems, corrosion related portions of NEC, and NACE standards.
- Prior knowledge of company policies and DOT regulations.
- Knowledge and experience with safe handling practices of products (gas and liquids).
- 3 years’ experience in the pipeline industry or related field.
