Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Azure Database Developer, Data Architect, and BI Developer to design and implement cloud-based database solutions. This role will involve collaborating on the design and development of databases for a new application, as well as supporting related business intelligence projects. The ideal candidate will be responsible for architecting and developing databases for new applications, designing data warehouse solutions, creating efficient database architectures, managing ETL processes, and building interactive BI dashboards and reports to deliver valuable insights. Strong expertise in Azure technologies, data architecture, and business intelligence tools is required. This hybrid position reports to the Senior Software Developer and is based at our Folsom, CA office.
Database Architecture & Design: Collaborate with application developers to design and build scalable database solutions for new applications, ensuring optimal performance, security, and reliability. Implement cloud-based databases using Azure SQL Database.
Data Warehouse Development: Design and manage a data warehouse, ensuring it is optimized for analytical workloads. Apply best practices in dimensional modeling and data storage to ensure efficiency and scalability.
Business Intelligence & Reporting: Design and develop Power BI reports, dashboards, and data visualizations to empower stakeholders with actionable insights. Ensure that BI solutions meet business requirements and provide intuitive, user-friendly reporting tools.
ETL Development: Design, develop, and manage ETL processes using Azure Data Factory to transform, load, and move data between systems and the data warehouse
Database Optimization: Optimize database performance through query optimization, indexing, and other techniques, ensuring scalability and responsiveness of data systems.
Cloud Solutions & Infrastructure: Manage and implement cloud-based infrastructure for data storage and processing, ensuring high availability and disaster recovery.
Cloud Migration & Integration: Lead the migration of data and applications between two Azure-based environments, ensuring seamless transitions and minimizing disruptions.
Data Governance & Security: Enforce best practices for data security, privacy, and compliance. Ensure that sensitive data is protected and that databases comply with relevant regulations.
Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams including application developers, business analysts, and project managers to align data architecture requirements and design solutions that meet both business and technical goals.
Continuous Improvement: Stay current with the latest trends in Azure cloud technologies, data warehousing, and business intelligence, and continuously propose improvements to current systems and processes.
Documentation & Training: Document data structures, processes, and architecture decisions. Provide training and support to end-users and team members on BI tools and database systems.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in database development, data warehousing, and business intelligence, with strong expertise in Azure data technologies.
- Hands-on experience with Azure SQL Database, Azure Data Factory and Power BI.
- Expertise in ETL development, transforming data from source systems to a data warehouse and optimizing for analytical processing.
- Solid experience with data modeling supporting new application development, including dimensional models (star schema, snowflake schema).
- Experience designing and developing business intelligence solutions, including the creation of Power BI dashboards and reports.
- Strong proficiency in SQL (T-SQL), query optimization, and stored procedure development.
- Knowledge of data governance, data security, and cloud compliance best practices.
- In-depth understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), with experience implementing and deploying maintainable solutions in a production environment.
- Skilled in managing expectations and working effectively within deadlines, ensuring smooth project delivery.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work closely with both technical and business teams to deliver solutions.
- Ability to work on multiple projects and meet deadlines while maintaining high-quality standards.
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Sisense BI platform: Demonstrated expertise in using Sisense for data analytics and business intelligence, including experience in building data models, creating interactive dashboards, and generating data-driven insights
- Familiarity with DevOps practices for database and data solutions.
- Certification in Azure Data Engineer Associate or other relevant Azure certifications.
