Job Description:
The State of Michigan is seeking a Cloud Architect - Azure to support its technology infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have expertise in designing and implementing cloud-based solutions, with a focus on Microsoft Azure. The resource will be working on a hybrid schedule (onsite Wednesdays and Thursdays) and must be available for an in-person interview if required.
Specialty Areas:
- Cloud Architecture & Development – Experience with Microsoft Azure, Function Apps, and Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
- Software Development & Integration – Hands-on expertise in .NET, HTML, XML, SQL, SOAP, REST, and PowerShell.
- Infrastructure as Code (IaC) Implementation – Experience in writing and implementing IaC solutions.
- System Design & Architecture – Knowledge of web-based and client-server-based systems architecture.
- Project Management & Collaboration – Working with cross-functional teams to deliver cloud-based solutions efficiently.
Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and implement cloud-based solutions using Microsoft Azure.
- Develop Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions to automate deployments.
- Work collaboratively with development and infrastructure teams to optimize cloud solutions.
- Ensure cloud-based applications are secure, scalable, and high-performing.
- Provide technical guidance on cloud best practices and governance.
- Assist with troubleshooting and resolving technical issues in cloud environments.
- Monitor and optimize cloud resources to ensure cost efficiency and performance.
- Document technical specifications, procedures, and system configurations.
- Participate in stakeholder meetings to understand project requirements and objectives.

Mandatory Requirements:
- Minimum 5 years of experience in cloud architecture and development.
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Azure and related services.
- Hands-on experience implementing Infrastructure as Code (IaC).

- Ability to work onsite from day one (Wednesdays and Thursdays in Lansing, MI).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certifications in Microsoft Azure (e.g., Azure Solutions Architect, Azure DevOps Engineer, etc.).
- Experience working with government agencies or public sector projects.
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
