Job Summary
Reporting to the Senior Manager, Risk, the Senior Risk Analyst will be a significant contributor to the Risk function and be responsible for Risk Management Policy Maintenance and Enforcement; Market Price Curve Management; Measuring and Assessing Market Risks; Enhanced Risk Management Methodologies; and P&L and Risk Monitoring and Reporting.
Essential Functions
- Risk Management Policy Maintenance and Enforcement
- Lead Risk Management Policy review and enhancement initiative
- Develop processes for identifying, tracking, and reporting Risk Management Policy infractions
- Manage Risk Policy Acknowledgement process
- Manage Policy Compliance function
- Market Price Curve Management
- Manage the process of periodic review, validation, and documentation of all price curves used by Symmetry
- Formalize and document curve construction including trader assessments of delivery costs from liquid pools to delivered locations
- Measuring and Assessing Market Risks
- Work with Commercial and Product Control to ensure products and deals are properly reflected in the ETRM system
- Validate system inputs including price curves and deal entry to ensure the proper calculation of Value at Risk (VaR), Mark-to-Market (MTM), and Profit and Loss results
- Enhanced Risk Measurement Methodologies
- Develop enhanced Risk Measurement capabilities including stress testing, back-testing, and scenario analysis to identify concentrations of portfolio risk
- Employ standardized enhanced Risk Measurement practices into daily, weekly, and/or monthly reporting
- P&L and Risk Monitoring and Reporting
- Monitor and explain changes in VaR and MTM (both cash month and forward)
- Report and Present to the Risk Management Committee as needed
- Optimize use of ETRM (Endur)
- Liaise with IT to improve reporting from Endur.
- Other duties as required.
Education/Certification/Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, mathematics, statistics, or a related field from an accredited college or university required
- Advanced degree in finance or statistics preferred
- Minimum of 5 years of Energy industry experience, preferably Natural Gas risk management
- Experience building Advanced Excel-based models to analyze data required
- Experience leading initiatives and influencing other functions including Front Office
- Experience with Endur, SalesForce, and BI tool like Tableau preferred

- Able to reach, grasp, and manipulate items necessary to perform job tasks.
- Able to remain in a stationary position for extended periods of time as required by job responsibilities.
- Proficient in speaking, reading, and comprehending the English language.
- Able to exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a minimal amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.
Working Conditions
- Able to work in a fast-paced office environment with a high-volume workload and frequent, short deadlines that may require more than a 40-hour work week to meet established deadlines including working nights or weekends, as required.
- Able to work indoors, in an office environment, regardless of whether it is an open office, cubicle or private office.
- Able to travel occasionally, possibly overnight, and to attend meetings and conferences, when required.
