What This Role Is…
As a Risk Management Professional, the primary function of this position is to minimize CITY Furniture’s risk and legal exposure. Risk Management Professional will promote a safe workplace and serve as the lead contact for all Associates and Managers on all risk management claims. Your contributions will ensure the success of the Risk Management team within the Legal Department at CITY Furniture.
Position Title: Risk Management Professional
Reports To: Corporate Counsel Litigation
Location: Hybrid/ Tamarac or Plant City Corporate Office
Department/Sub-Department: Administration/ Legal
Salary Range: $55k-65k (DOE)
What You’ll Do…
As a Risk Management Professional, your primary responsibilities will be:
- Workers’ Compensation Case Management – Overseeing and adjudicating workers’ compensation claims from inception to their conclusion. Report and co-manage claims alongside CITY’s insurance carrier(s) and third-party administrator. Serve as the primary contact for internal and external stakeholders, including injured Associates, Managers, providers, physicians, and insurance carriers. Conduct investigations of all workplace incidents and make safety recommendations. Medical management, including monitoring injured workers’ medical treatment plans to optimize recovery. Work closely with attorneys and paralegals in CITY’s Legal Department to manage all aspects of litigated claims.
- General Liability and/or Auto Liability Case Management – Overseeing and adjudicating auto and general liability claims from inception to their conclusion. Report all claims to CITY’s insurance carrier and maintain open communication with all related parties, including CITY’s outside counsel to obtain any necessary information and documentation. Conduct investigations and make safety recommendations. Manage and resolve property damage claims.
Additional duties and responsibilities as a Risk Management Professional:
- Lead cross-functional problem-solving meetings to communicate risk assessments and mitigation plans with key decision-makers and department leaders across the organization to improve the safety of our showrooms, distribution centers, and workplaces.
- Identify trends across auto, general liability, and workers compensation incidents and implement and track the success of countermeasures.
- Manage the administrative aspects of claims, determine benefits eligibility, and prepare and reconcile financial transactions.
- Proactively identify potential risks across all aspects of an organization's operations, including financial, legal, operational, reputational.
- Adheres to assigned all Standard Work and Role and Responsibilities for your role.

- Familiarity with problem-solving methodologies (8-step, A3, etc.)
- Ability to work in a team and independently to meet department goals and deadlines

- Exceptional verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills with a high degree of tact, courtesy, and diplomacy
- Deep understanding and established knowledge of coverages and processes for handling workers’ compensation, general liability, and auto liability claims
- Experience with claims management software
What’s Required…
- Education & Work Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution preferred
- 1 to 3 years of prior experience as a Claim’s Adjuster, Risk Manager, or related field experience
- Work Environment & Schedule:
- Monday through Friday
- Limited weekend and early morning hours in a corporate office and remote environment.
- Travel is minimal and contained within Florida.
- Physical Requirements:
- Limited light lifting
- Prolonged sitting, standing, walking
- Technology Requirements:
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office Programs (i.e. Excel, Word, and Outlook, etc.)
- Google Suite (i.e. Docs, Sheets, Slides, etc.)
- Claims Management Software
- Certifications / Licenses
- Claims Adjuster Certification (preferred)
- Valid Florida Driver’s License
