This position will report to the Head of School and will sit on the Senior Administrative Council.
The CITO will be responsible for all technology for Andover and lead the IT staff, which includes a director of technology.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic IT Leadership
- Develop and implement a comprehensive IT vision and roadmap aligned with the Academy’s mission and strategic goals.
- Lead the development and execution of an innovative IT strategy that enhances educational delivery, operational efficiency, and student engagement.
- Leadership and Management
- Provide leadership and direction to the IT department, fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Oversee the recruitment, development, and retention of a high-performing IT team.
- Legacy Software Management
- Ensure the effective operation and maintenance of the Academy’s legacy software systems while planning and executing upgrades or replacements as needed.
- Balance the need for modernization with the reliability and stability of existing systems.
- Emerging Technologies
- Ensure that Andover is considering and implementing new technologies, such as AI, IoT, Cloud, etc., that enhance the Academy’s experience for student, faculty, and administration.
- IT Vision and Roadmap
- Develop a forward-looking IT roadmap that incorporates the latest advancements in technology and anticipates future needs of the Academy.
- Align IT initiatives with the Academy’s strategic objectives and ensure seamless integration with other institutional processes.
- Data Strategy and Innovation
- Create and implement a data strategy that enhances data-driven decision-making across the Academy.
- Leverage emerging technologies, such as machine learning and artificial intelligence, to drive innovation in educational practices and operational efficiency.
- Change Management
- Lead and manage change initiatives related to IT projects, ensuring smooth transitions and minimal disruption to the Academy’s operations.
- Communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels to foster support and understanding of IT initiatives.
- Cybersecurity and Risk Management
- Develop and implement robust cybersecurity measures to protect the Academy’s data and IT infrastructure.
- Identify and mitigate IT-related risks, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and best practices.
- Budget and Resource Management
- Develop and manage the IT budget, ensuring effective allocation of resources to meet strategic priorities.
- Seek out opportunities for cost savings and operational efficiencies.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field (master’s degree preferred).
- A minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in IT leadership roles, preferably within an educational institution.
- Proven experience in running day-to-day IT operations and leading and developing staff.
- Strong understanding of legacy software systems and modern IT infrastructure.
- Expertise in data strategy, machine learning, artificial intelligence, and other emerging technologies.
- Demonstrated success in leading change management initiatives.
- Proven experience in strategic planning, IT governance, and project management.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders and foster a culture of innovation and excellence.
