Network Architect
The Network Architect is responsible for designing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and optimizing secure and efficient network systems to ensure high availability and robust security for business applications and supported systems. This role is crucial in developing and supporting the firm’s networks, including LAN, WLAN, and WAN, as well as configuring and deploying SD-WAN, firewalls, routers, and other network devices to enhance security and scalability. Additionally, the Network Architect will monitor and optimize network performance, integrity, and security while addressing any issues related to the firm’s cloud and on-premises networking infrastructure.
The company is located in Washington D.C. and will remain 100% remote.
What You Will Be Doing
- Configure, manage, and troubleshoot firewall policies and rules to ensure network security and efficiency.
- Serve as the subject matter expert in network design, solution engineering, and the implementation of secure, high-performance, and redundant network systems and infrastructure.
- Act as a key escalation point for operational and troubleshooting efforts, collaborating with internal teams such as Application, Cybersecurity, and Service Desk.
- Develop, review, and enforce documentation and procedural standards, ensuring compliance and proper maintenance.
- Mentor and provide guidance to junior team members, supporting their professional growth.
- Conduct routine security assessments and recommend enhancements to strengthen network security.
- Perform network monitoring, incident response, and security investigations to ensure system integrity.
- Oversee the lifecycle management of routers, switches, and wireless infrastructure, including firmware updates and maintenance.
- Work closely with the Network Infrastructure team to implement solutions, contribute to strategy discussions, and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
- Perform additional duties as needed to align with business objectives and uphold organizational values.
Required Skills & Experience:
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in managing and supporting complex networking environments.
- Candidate coming out of law firm.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Proven expertise in designing, implementing, and maintaining critical network infrastructures, including WAN, LAN, VPN, VoIP, Collaboration, Security, and Wireless.
- Strong technical proficiency in Cisco networking, equivalent to CCNA/CCNP/CCIE levels.
- Hands-on experience in designing and deploying Meraki Enterprise wireless networks.
- Advanced knowledge of software-defined networking and Palo Alto’s Prisma SD-WAN.
- Expertise in complex routing and switching, particularly with BGP.
- Experience with Palo Alto Prisma VPN solutions.
- Proficiency in fault monitoring, capacity management, configuration management, and performance optimization.
- Familiarity with network management and monitoring tools such as Cisco DNA and Panorama.
- Experience working with cloud-based technologies, including cloud firewalls, proxies, and related solutions, with a focus on Azure.
- Strong background in Cisco and Palo Alto network technologies.
