Cloud Architect (AWS, GCP)
Optomi, in partnership with a leader within the hospitality industry, is seeking an experienced Cloud Architect to join their Atlanta, GA team! This role is ideal for professionals with 10+ years of experience and a strong background in AWS and GCP. As a key member of the team, the Cloud Architect will play an important role in delivering technology solutions that enhance experiences for the company’s owners, customers, and partners. This individual will be responsible for defining the vision and establishing guiding principles for Agile delivery teams, ensuring they operate effectively within set parameters. Additionally, the Cloud Architect will develop and support governance processes to maintain high standards for performance, availability, quality, security, and maintainability.

Experience of the right candidate:
- Bachelor’s or master’s Degree in a relevant field of work or an equivalent combination of education and work-related experience.
- A minimum of 10 years of progressive work-related experience with demonstrated proficiency in multiple disciplines, technologies, or processes related to the position.
- Expert understanding of the designs and technology footprints of multiple products within a product family.
- Champion engineering process disciplines (e.g., Scrum, Agile, Kanban, ITIL).
- Champion industry process improvement programs (e.g., CMMI, IOS?9000, FDA, Six Sigma).
- Experience working with Java/Linux/Microsoft
- Understanding of Enterprise Caching Architectures
- Skilled at Messaging Based Architecture e.g. Kafka
- Knowledge of Micro Service Architecture
- Experience with Public Facing APIs and API Gateways
- Understanding of Enterprise Integration Patterns
- Experience with Logging
- Hands on experience with Monitoring/Observability
- Must be Cloud Focused: AWS and cloud-native architectures, Google Cloud & Big Query, Salesforce and Data Cloud, Private Clouds: VMware/Nutanix
- Data Focused: Big Data, Relational Data, AI/ML
- Middleware Focused: Web Application, Native Application, Kubernetes, Networking (Cloud and Hybrid), Security Architectures, IAM, Microsoft Active Directory, Single Sign On Integration
Responsibilities of the right candidate:
- The Cloud Architect is a seasoned member of a team delivering new technology capabilities to the Company’s owners, customers, and partners within the organization.
- Helps set the vision and parameters that Agile delivery teams operate within.
- Helps develop and support governance processes that ensure that team deliverables meet the Company’s standards for performance, availability, quality, security, and maintainability.
- Lead the design of cloud-native, scalable, and cost-effective architectures on AWS and Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
- Provide expertise in designing solutions for Infrastructure, Networks, Storage, Compute, and Database in the Cloud.
- Architect hybrid and multi-cloud environments, integrating AWS/GCP services with on-premises and other cloud platforms.
- Define, document, and evangelize Cloud Standards/Architectures/Product Roadmaps for AWS, GCP, Salesforce, SaaS, PaaS, and On-Prem).
- Implement security best practices for Cloud environments, including identity and access management (IAM), encryption, and data protection.
- Design and enforce security controls such as network isolation, firewalls, and VPNs to safeguard sensitive data and applications.
- Create and maintain detailed architectural artifacts (e.g., architecture diagrams, design documents, data models) to visualize, communicate, and document the cloud solutions and architectures using tools like Lucidchart to create and update diagrams that represent cloud architectures, data flows, security models, and integration points.
- Document decision-making processes, trade-offs, and rationale behind architecture choices to support future scaling, optimization, and troubleshooting.
- Develops a unified architecture that is scalable across the organization and ensures the use of industry and enterprise technology standards and develops roadmap incorporating industry best practices.
- Translates industry technology direction to business value and serves as a key advisor to stakeholders, providing new research and innovative approaches.
- Accountable for the development of high-level business cases, with the ability to influence senior leadership, business partners, architects and key stakeholders within the architecture team and other functional areas on the adoption of technical solutions and drive the solution to completion.
- Research and evaluate, or provide direction to others researching and evaluating, new technologies coming to market and their potential application to IT strategies and business plans.
- Analyzes systems and processes from end to end, partnering with IT and business colleagues as appropriate.
- Provides guidance and enterprise-wide influence leading to solutions that are well engineered, operable, maintainable, scalable, and delivered on schedule.
- Advice in decisions regarding strategic partnerships, vendor selection and acquisitions.
