Job Description:
This IT Consulting firm in the Greater Kansas City area is looking for a Team lead that has worked in the MSP space and had techs report to them in the past.
This position will involve:
- Technician team management
- 3-4 technicians
- Servicing servers, workstations, backups, internet connections, and all IT products at numerous customers facilities, and quite often work with larger scale projects.
- These projects include server and workstation installs, network reconfigurations, and major software upgrades.
The breadth of a typical server install is often from the building of a server, the load of OS and software, and the implementation on-site. This implementation could be a migration from one environment to another or an addition into an existing environment. Many of the server operating systems they work with are primarily Windows based; Microsoft Certification not required.
The client base varies widely from a peer to peer network to clients with multiple servers and an on-site IT staff that utilize the client for large projects and to supplement every day IT issues. The exposure to a wide range of technologies and services that are used in a broad customer base keeps the company and its employees on the cutting edge.
This position will also contribute to client requests for hardware changes and reconfigurations. These include:
- Cisco routers and firewalls
- Sonicwall devices
- FortiGate routers, etc.
- This can be from unpacking the devices and configuring them for the client environment including VPN's (Pt to Pt and client) to reconfiguring on-site devices to accommodate an ISP change, etc.
Specific job skills/experience preferred:
- TCP/IP and network services such as DNS, DHCP, etc.
- Active Directory configuration and troubleshooting
- Client/Server anti-virus solutions
- Ability to construct and configure hardware components for server and workstation builds
- Other server backup & disaster recovery appliance solutions
- Installation / troubleshooting routers
- VPN and firewall configurations
- Troubleshoot and resolve server hardware issues
- Troubleshoot client-side issues such as SMTP, virus and spyware/malware
- Ability to install various 3rd party products in a server environment
- Server migration and conversions
- Phone skills for occasional support of remote issues
- MS Exchange 2010/2007 and higher including Spam prevention
- Installation/troubleshooting IIS 5.0 and higher
- Symantec-specific software products
The ideal candidate would have a minimum of 5 years working experience in IT and be highly skilled with multiple client server environments.
Skills:
Knowledge: All Microsoft Server and Workstation Operating Systems, Microsoft Applications, Routers
Ability to travel up to 40 miles from home, lift minimum of 50 pounds and perform duties within a variety of work environments. Candidate must pass a security background check.
