ProZ.com is the world’s largest community of freelance translators and language professionals. We’re expanding our tech team and looking for a top-tier Systems Administrator to help stabilize, optimize, and scale our infrastructure.
What You’ll Do:
- Stabilize and optimize our systems to ensure high availability and reliability.
- Upgrade our MySQL 5 databases to the latest version, ensuring smooth transitions and minimal downtime.
- Handle and maintain over 20 servers, spread across multiple data centers.
- Collaborate closely with an 8-person development team to streamline deployment and server performance.
- Prevent and mitigate DDOS attacks and minimize occurrences of 503 errors.
- Work extensively with Docker for containerization and deployment.
- Write and maintain robust shell scripts for server automation and optimization.

What We’re Looking For:
- Proven experience as a Systems Administrator or similar role.
- Deep knowledge of MySQL (and experience with upgrades).
- Strong experience with Docker in production environments.
- Proficiency in shell scripting and automation.
- Experience managing and scaling multiple servers (20+).
- Understanding of security best practices and DDOS prevention.
- Ability to troubleshoot and resolve server performance issues.
- Strong collaboration skills to work with developers and other stakeholders.
Nice to Have:
- Experience with load balancing and traffic distribution.
- Knowledge of monitoring tools (like Prometheus, Grafana, etc.).
- Familiarity with PHP environments and optimizing database queries.
