Sebastian Tech Solutions is seeking a highly motivated and self-directed Systems Administrator to support our customer at Aberdeen Proving Grounds, MD. The selected candidate will play a key role in ensuring system reliability, security, and performance while working in a collaborative team environment. This individual will support various IT operations, including troubleshooting outages, managing enterprise infrastructure, ensuring compliance with DoD security standards, and maintaining maximum system availability.
Responsibilities:
- Provide 24/7 operational support to ensure full functionality of client services.
- Troubleshoot system outages to restore performance and recover services quickly.
- Assist with the implementation, configuration, and maintenance of various IT technologies, including virtual servers, web hosting, data backup, endpoint security, and enterprise monitoring.
- Ensure all client services comply with DoD 8500 series and NIST 800-53 security requirements.
- Develop systems architecture documentation and engineering/administration guidelines.
- Research, evaluate, and integrate innovative technologies into the environment.
- Create and execute test plans for new hardware and software implementations.
- Manage server backups, restore operations, and disaster recovery plans in alignment with SOPs.
- Apply patches, updates, and software installations on servers and workstations.
- Administer system security tools, including ACAS, SCAP, and Radix.
- Ensure compliance with Cybersecurity Vulnerability Alerts and Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs).
- Monitor server logs and provide reports to the Information Systems Security Manager (ISSM) as required.
- Conduct preventative maintenance and server patching, sometimes after business hours.
- Participate in Change Management Control processes and submit Requests for Change.
- Provide engineering consulting and compliance management as needed.
- Train technical staff and users on IT system operations and security best practices.
Required Qualifications:
- Education & Experience:
- Minimum: High School Diploma with 12+ years of relevant experience.
- Preferred: Bachelor's Degree with 10+ years of experience.
- Clearance: Interim Secret Clearance required; must be upgradeable to Top Secret.
- Certifications:
- Must meet DoD 8570.01-M baseline certification requirements upon hire.
- Computing environment certification (relevant to job duties) must be obtained within 6 months of hire.
- Technical Skills:
- Windows Server 2019/2022, RHEL 7 and 9.
- Enterprise tools: Satellite, Puppet, Ansible, Centrify, JAMF.
- Apple OS X Windows integration.
- Veeam Backup, ExaGrid disk appliances, PureStorage flash storage.
- Citrix XenDesktop, XenApp, NetScaler.
- Active Directory, Group Policy, Microsoft IIS, Apache.
- Security tools: McAfee HBSS, Army AESS ePO Server, Splunk Enterprise Security.
- Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager (MECM), WSUS.
- Experience with Change Management processes.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
