Network Administrator
Location: 1575 Sherman St. Denver, Colorado 80203 ((must be a Colorado resident or willing to relocate/commute))
About the Role:
The Office of Information Technology (OIT) is seeking a Network Administrator II to provide technical support for network operations, maintenance, and infrastructure management. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in networking, LAN/WAN technologies, and network equipment such as routers, switches, wireless access points, and VoIP technologies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Network Operations and Maintenance (55% of time):
- Provide daily technical operations support for network infrastructure.
- Assist with design, installation, and configuration of routers, switches, wireless access points, and LAN controllers.
- Respond to critical outages and escalate technical issues as needed.
- Project Engagement (10% of time):
- Provide technical design recommendations for network infrastructure on small-sized projects.
- Order circuits, coordinate cabling, and install/configure hardware as required.
- Documentation and Monitoring (10% of time):
- Maintain network infrastructure documentation.
- Implement automated monitoring systems for optimal network availability.
- Vendor Engagement (10% of time):
- Coordinate with vendors and external consultants for network support.
- Manage circuit orders and vendor-related tasks.
- Inventory and Asset Management (15% of time):
- Maintain inventory records of network hardware/software and manage periodic upgrades.
Qualifications:
Required Skills:
- Strong understanding of TCP/IP protocol suite and network infrastructure components (routers, switches).
- Knowledge of network management tools like SNMP, CLI, and network monitoring platforms.
- Experience troubleshooting network issues using the OSI Model.
- Experience with ServiceNow ticketing system.
- Familiarity with Cisco Meraki equipment (configuration, troubleshooting, support).
- Basic knowledge of Python scripting for network automation.
Preferred Certifications:
- CompTIA Network+
- Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA)
- Certified Network Professional (CCNP) – Routing/Switching
