Data Privacy Legal Consultant (Global)
MyData-TRUST is looking to hire a highly motivated Data Privacy Legal Consultant for its growing Durham, North Carolina office. As a critical member of our multi-disciplinary team, the Data Privacy Legal Consultant will advise MD-T on global data privacy regulations in the development of services and provision of consulting support to MD-T clients.
Responsibilities
- Develop high quality, cutting-edge expertise in global data protection laws and regulation
- Monitor and analyze legal and regulatory trends and identifying their impact on MD-T and the services it offers
- Provide guidance and support to MD-T to ensure client services and solutions comply with applicable laws and regulations
- Identify the opportunity and need to create new templates, tools and methodologies or update existing ones to meet the requirements of applicable privacy laws and regulations
- Support development and maintenance of strategic templates, tools and methodologies in compliance with applicable privacy laws and regulations
- Serve as a point of escalation for MD-T operational teams supporting client deliverables, providing expert advice to MD-T operational team on matters such as data processing agreements, privacy policies, privacy and data protection intelligence in local jurisdictions, implementation of controls in accordance with local regulation and co-regulatory frameworks governing life sciences and clinical trials such as Good Clinical Practices (GCP), risk assessments (DPIA, PIA, TIA) participation in meetings with clients where necessary
- Provide expert advice to MD-T operational teams on data incident response and data breach notification in compliance with local requirements
Qualifications
- 2-4 years of experience in legal and/or compliance roles advising on global privacy and data protection, including GDPR and US Data Privacy Laws
- 2-4 years of experience in the Life Sciences industry, including in-house or external legal, compliance, operational or consulting roles supporting pharma, biotech, med-tech, and/or clinical research organizations
- Working knowledge of co-regulatory frameworks and standards governing the Life Sciences and clinical trials sector including GxP (e.g. GCP, GMP, GLP), HHS 45 CFR Part 46, FDA 21 CFR, EU Clinical Trial Regulation, ISO 9001, reimbursement, anti-kickback and ad/promo regulations
- Experience advising on privacy/security by design and risk assessments in collaboration with operational, IT, IT Security, AI, data management, data governance and digital marketing teams
- Working knowledge of essential data security, data governance and AI principles, with advance technical experience and know-how in these areas a plus
- Juris Doctorate (JD)
- CIPP-E, CIPP-US, CIPT and/or CIPM Privacy Certification, additional certifications in related technical spaces a plus (e.g. data security, data management, digital marketing)
- Excellent analytical skills
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills and ability to articulate pragmatic solutions to meet client business and compliance needs
- Experience working with international multidisciplinary team
- Fluency in English (additional language proficiency a plus)
- Flexibility and willingness to travel occasionally
