An organization in the Durham, NC area is looking for a Systems Administrator to join their team on a contract-to-hire basis.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain essential IT enterprise systems, including operating systems, security tools, applications, servers, email systems, and mobile and desktop devices (Azure and Intune). Perform regular system monitoring, including log reviews and analysis.
- Create, terminate, and troubleshoot Entra AD accounts, manage AD groups, and O365 distribution lists and email accounts.
- Maintain internal networking systems, such as routers, switches, firewalls, and support internet, intranet, LANs, WANs, and network segments.
- Monitor network performance and implement necessary changes to improve speed and reliability.
- Take responsibility for projects and create enterprise solutions within larger business initiatives.
- Handle business-critical IT tasks and systems that provide a commercial advantage in the global marketplace.
- Enable faster and smarter business processes and develop analytics for meaningful insights.
- Work with internal and external partners to communicate project status, activities, and achievements.
- Assist other teams with troubleshooting to identify root causes of IT issues and provide technical support when needed. Mentor less experienced team members.
- Ensure system backups and recovery processes are in place and regularly tested.
- Implement and manage security measures to protect data, software, and hardware while monitoring security alerts and responding to incidents promptly.
- Plan and execute system upgrades, patches, and installations of new hardware and software.
- Evaluate and recommend new technologies and tools to improve system efficiency and performance.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation of system configurations, procedures, and policies.
- Generate regular reports on system performance, security, and usage metrics.
- Work closely with other IT team members, developers, and stakeholders to ensure seamless integration and functionality of systems.
- Communicate effectively with non-technical staff and management to explain complex technical issues.
Qualifications:- Minimum of 5 years of system administration experience.
- Experience in cloud computing (specifically Microsoft Azure and/or AWS) required
- Experience with Microsoft Intune preferred.
- Experience with MAC
- Experience with Linux
- Experience working in a call center environment preferred
- Experience working in revenue cycle management environment preferred
- Experience with operating systems (Windows, Linux, Mac), current equipment and technologies, enterprise backup and recovery procedures, performance-monitoring tools, virtualization, HTTP traffic, content delivery, and caching
- Experience with PowerShell preferred or knowledge of programming or scripting languages and concepts.
- Strong knowledge of networking protocols, firewalls, and security technologies both cloud and physical.
- Professional certifications such as Microsoft Azure, Network+, Security+, preferred.
- ITIL v4 or equivalent required. Candidate can take up to six months after employment to obtain certification.
